I have a 2000 R1. I had the bike on a rear swing arm stand. Since it has been so cold I wanted to start the bike up and let it run for a little while. To my amazement when I started the bike the tire started to spin. The bike was in neutral.

Someone told me this means my clutch is going. If that is true how much or a repair bill is that??? I just got my bike back from the shop.

Please any help would be greatly appreciated.

The repair bill will be 0$!!

Perfectly normal, just use it to put chainlube on the chain!!

Little bit stressed right now, maybe somebody else can go in to it deeper!!

Hey! the same thing happened to me the other day. Is that a Yamaha characteristic or what? Mine barely has 5000 miles on it!! What's up with that??!!

All vehicles will do that.I own an auto repair shop and every car I put on the rack is in neutral,if you start it up the wheels will turn. The transmission is a constant moving part and the tolerances are small enough that the driveline will move some but you can stop the wheel with your hand. Do not worry about it,very normal;)

You guys are saving me from massive heart failure. I really appreciate your help. Just to make sure my speedo was reading like 4 or 5 mph from the wheel spinning. I just want to make sure this is acceptable and normal.

Yes it is normal.Start the bike on the stand in neutral, carefully stop the tire,it will slowly start spinning again........very carefully
