JUST PUT WEB-CAM 194 GRAVES INTAKE CAM INTO MOTOR DEGREEED AT WEB-CAM AND GRAVES SETTINGS 112IN 110 EX NOT GETTING THE HP NUMBERS I EXPECTED. HAS ANYONE USED THIS CAM AND WHAT DID YOU GET FOR LOBE CENTERS AND WHAT TYPE OF HP. ENGINE HAS FALICON ULTRALIGHT , WISECO 13:1, PORTED POLISHED, GRAVES SLIDE STOPS, KIT ECU, POWER COMMANDER, HINDLE TI FULL EXHAUST. JUST WONDERING? I EXPECTED MORE HP THAN I GOT.

What kind of hp figure its putting out now?

Let me guess your not getting past 150-155rwhp, right? You need to get some custom Fuel Injectors. Then your numbers will go up. The TQ and mid range is right where it should be, but no top end.

Who makes fuel injectors?

Telling him which one to get would be a bonus :)

Hmm, I might have the same prob when I get done with my motor work.

RdRcr150, you've still not said what your figures are so far. A picture of your dyno graph would be helpful. There's a few of us, me included, on here at the moment who are doing similar-ish work and I'm sure we'd all be very interested in this.

Did anyone get any results on this? I am about to go and get; Graves velocity stacks, graves slide stops, PC3USB, K&N filter and some adjustable cam gears for standard cams

I am going to be putting in my Graves cam within the next 2 weeks, I am thinking of taking some photos for a how to.

I am in the process of doing very similiar work to my R1. On my list is: Port and polished head, Milled head, Falicon super crank and rods, Graves slide stops, Graves velocity stacks, Graves smog block offs, BMC race filter, Graves Ram air box, PCIIIUSB Power commander, Dynojet Ingnition module, Full Akropovic Race Exhaust. Does any one know what kind of numbers I should expect to put out?? I am a few weeks away from the project being done and I am real curious as to what the rear wheel HP will be...

Wow, with all that work I would think about adding the Graves Cam too. How much milling did you do on the head? From what I have read I think I am going with an angle mill .020 ex to .015 in and use the stock gasket. I would think you should be around 150hp and mine will probably be similar even with the cam, as I understand bigger injectors are needed to get to 160hp.

I am doing the cams.. Just forgot to list them.. I milled the head .0010 I am using the stock head gasket but I am thinking of using a cometics metal gasket I don't know yet.. Do you happen to know what size injectors I need to go with??

Do you happen to know what size injectors I need to go with?? I looked at my head yesterday and I saw that there isn't a lot of room for shaving material off the intake side due to the center intake valve, I have read an angle mill is the best way to go and I want to try .020ex and .015in. I found a lot of useful info here, I believe courtesy of Martinc http://borg20012.tripod.com/service_section_index.htm As far as injectors I have heard a lot of people say we need bigger ones, but no one has given a part number, perhaps Chuck Graves would be able to answer, but you can get injectors here: http://www.rceng.com/

do you know where to get a performance ecu.. I heard somepeople talking about them.. The mill that I went with was only to build compression since I don't want to use an overbore piston set. and spending $600 for the wiseco stock bore just didn't seem resonable for me.. which ended up being a good thing because I spoke to graves and wiseco a fewdays ago and they said that with the setup I am running their pistons wouldn't work for me.. They both suggested I stay with the stock ones..

I found a lot of useful info here, I believe courtesy of Martinc http://borg20012.tripod.com/service_section_index.htm I would be careful with this guys site.. It seems that he talking about the newer R1's... There is no 4 piece velocity stack setup for the 02-03 that I have been able to find anywhere.. I was only able to get the 2 stack setup from graves.. When you mill your head with that angle mill that he is talking about you need to make sure that you have the clearance you will need between the pistons and valves.. Graves told me to be a hundred pwercent safe you need 0.060 clearance. Running anything less then that you might run into huge issues. I mean I don't know how often or application you plan on running your bike. But for me it's an everday ride and I ride hard so I need performance and Reliablity... Plus I can't afford to blow this motor again!!

I'm not scared lol! Actually the head I am milling is a spare head, and I will be sure to have the clearance recommended by Graves. I dropped the head off today to get the angle mill, they said it will be done in a week. I will take my time and probably take some pictures when I put it all together, I will let you know how the clearance comes out. I plan on using a stock gasket so I feel confident that there is enough room.

Thats good.. As far as the injectors go I just spoke with graves and they said to go with a bigger injector with everything that I am doing will be point less.. He said I don't have enough airflow to support the bigger injectors.. pretty much only if you gonna run a turbo or some sort of forced indujtion.. And I called the injector company but they don't know what they are talking about. I told him I had an 03 Yamaha R1 and he asked if the "CAR" was running.....

I emailed Graves Tech support for some suggestions on my cam timing. They told me to be careful using the 112in 110ex numbers if you have a milled head. They mentioned like gringo said that bigger injectors are only for turbo and nos. I am wanting some cam timing numbers that I can use on the street. Maybe 108/106?

yzracer did you get your bike put back together yet??

It will probably be tomorrow. I didn't get my engine gaskets Friday so I am expecting them today. I have everything pretty much ready to go together and I am free to work on it all week. I have to call a dyno shop tomorrow and see if they are going to have room for me maybe Friday.

This is kind of an older thread, but if anyone is watching it... What specifically are the 108 106? Is those valve closing events? And are they before or after tdc on #1 piston?

Thoses are lobe center numbers.

Btdc for intake and after for exhaust?

Man it's been a long time, and I thought I had updated this thread, but perhaps I had made a new one. I used 112/110 with my milled head and the gaps were good. The bike made 150hp but it didn't peak, and hp was still climbing at redline so I needed to go up with the rev limit to get full power from those numbers. Sadly I don't have the 03 anymore but I am loving my 2008, which makes 165hp with just a pipe and pc!
