74bones 11-18-2005, 10:54 AM Pics of the F3 added at the end of this post... 12-07-05
I have the opportunity to buy a Honda F3 for $1,200. I forget the exact year but I know it was the last year for the F3. The bike has a clean title but is wrecked. The only damage is the the plastic and the instrument panel. No mechanical damage other than part of the wiring harness near the instrument panel. I'm seriously thinking about buying it for a track bike. The bike only has 8,000 miles on it. Is this a steal, or should I keep looking? I figure I can have it track ready for about $2,000 total. Not including suspension mods that I can do later.. What do you guys think??:dunno

sounds like it might be a good bike if you just want something to ride on the track with, toss down a few times and keep going.. Plus there are boat loads of F3 parts out there.

All racers over there! You'll probably get some good responses from guys that race F3's. :thumbup

That's what I'm thinking. I don't see myself becoming a racer, but I'd like to have a good beater bike that I can run some track days with. I've been told the F3's are one of the most reliable and fun bikes to ride for cheap. I don't want to drop a ton of money on a bike that may only get ridden on the track 3 or 4 times per year. But I don't want a piece of crap either. I'll check out the link.. Thanks

pep04r1 11-27-2005, 12:46 AM sounds like you can do better then the F3
Devil's Wings 11-27-2005, 03:47 PM it'll eat an F3 for lunch. and the susp. has been revalved and sprung by track side engineering to fit my 190 pound ass. i failed to put that up there. come on, help me out. buy it. somebody, any body.
mxjunkie80 11-28-2005, 05:18 AM If you don't care about being competetive with other 600cc bikes then it sounds like a ok deal. Plus you really don't want to "polish a turd" in a sense, i wouldn't dump much money into it. Or you could go all out and buy my bike! :)

74bones 12-01-2005, 06:09 PM I'm still looking.. I passed on the F3. I decided I'd rather have something faster. I'm going to look at a wrecked 01 R6 this weekend. Post up anything you run accross under $2,000.

74bones 12-05-2005, 09:07 PM Well, the F3 deal was spiced up a bit and I decided to buy it.. It will be delivered to my house on wed. evening and most of the parts to fix it will be included. Found out the bike has a full Muzzy exhaust and has been dynotuned to 98 RWHP. Not to shaby for an old girl, I think it will be a great track day bike. I may not keep up with a new 600 but I'm sure I will have fun ringing it's neck.. :thumbup :beer
I'll post some pics when she gets here.
74bones 12-07-2005, 06:30 PM Here are the pics I promised. All I need is the upper front fairing, fairing stay, clip-ons, slicks, a tach and some paint to cover up the color:ugh and the rest will be suspension mods to get this thing set-up for my weight.:beer
74bones 12-07-2005, 06:31 PM another.
74bones 12-07-2005, 06:33 PM another..

Man, an F4 would have been nice but I'm pretty happy with the deal I got. It was delivered to my house too which made things super easy for me. I'm just debating on which way I want to go with it.. Put it back to stock and keep it street legal or sell all the stock parts and go full race bike:dunno I'm leaning towards keeping it street legal so I can get some time on it before I get to the track. I'll be lucky to do 4 or 5 track days a year which wouldn't give me much time to get comfortable on it.
