For you guys with the 2002 R1's or that are on the waiting list like me. "have you seen my bike :cryin ". What kind of pipe are you planning on going with? Full exhaust? Slip On?. My main reason for getting a pipe is sound. I want to twist my wrist and you know I'm there. So I'm leaning towards just a slip-on. But I can't decide on a manufacturer. I had a Micron slip on my FZR-600 and I liked the sound. And I have a Muzzy on my ZX7. What working well with Yamaha? I know there have been plenty of post about exhaust in because I've been reading through them since I joined but I just have to add one more. :n0t

I have a Micron on my YZF and I've had Micron's on both my Ducatis - they sound enormous, much deeper and more throaty than the typical high-pitch whiny ass pipes (no offense to you D&D owners)...personally I want my bike to roar, not sound like an angry crack-smoking blender!!!!

The Microns are known for great sound, but they tend to pop when lean - FI should alleviate this on the 02. Akrapovic makes a great pipe too - not as deep, but close and constructed very well. Once the bikes get circulated a bit, it shouldn't take long for plenty of people to start buying- so keep looking around before you buy...I know it's tough to be patient though, every day my hair gets grayer and my fingernails more bitten...:cryin

hehe. Of course you're allowed to post a new thread. :thumbup

I think my MIG high-pipe, Carbon, sounds awesome. It has a pretty deep growl.. and when it drives fairly slowly in traffic the sound coming from the bike is just wicked! it's low-bass kind of sound.

And when you're revving.. it sounds very mean too

:rock

If you haven't got your '02 R1 before the season kicks in over here... I'll record the sound from my bike, just so you know what the MIG exhaust sounds like.

I think there are some videos in the videos section of this site that features sound only .....

I am picking my 02 up a week on Saturday with an Akrapovic full Ti slip-on and optional Ti link pipe. The pipe differs in shape to 2001 model and follows the lines of the original system more closely (should be fairly high level then). I have heard they are not very loud but nice and fruity sounding!!

The official UK supplier said that all Akrapovic slip-ons are designed and built to run with manufacturers standard fuel map so no need to by a power commander to remap Fi.

Not long to go now........ :boobies :boobies :boobies

Scud, You are right about that deep sound on that Micron. I think that's what I'm going to get. But I'm going to do some surfin for info about the MIG to Swedie. And I should have My bike in a couple of weeks I'm number 1 in line for the blue 02. Could not decide if I liked that dark spot on the fairing on the silver. Going to have to look it in person. Besides the waiting list was too long for the silver.

Hey Max, should I use the dynojet jet kit with just a slip-on.
