geoblitz 12-07-2005, 06:13 AM Hi guys,
its the first time i post a thread on this great forum. I am getting my brand new 06 black R1 in early Jan and i'm deeply concerned by the fact that there's hardly any space on the nike that one could use to carry on board a good lock. For example, U-locks are out of the question. To make things worse, the official Yamaha store that i'm getting the bike from is going to deliver it to me with a Yamaha alarm installed under the back seat ( so i guess that makes sure that absolutely no space is left to carry a lock?)
Anyway, i'd be greatful if you could advise what kind of locks do you guys use and how do you carry them around.
Many thanks in advance and may you all enjoy safely your joy machines!
I do apologize in advance for any language mispellings, english is not my mother language:)
Rxflyer 12-08-2005, 10:28 PM Get a small tankbag. It's also nice to carry a flat tire repair kit, etc.
geoblitz 12-12-2005, 01:55 AM i think you're right rxflyer, i don't see how else i can carry arround the lock. thanx for the tip!
ATCR1 12-12-2005, 11:36 PM Easy, buy a backpack :p
Bomber_Man 12-12-2005, 11:42 PM Forget the tank bag bro...get a tail bag. RKA makes a sweet one that I love on my bike...looks really nice and will never scratch your gas tank and is never an inconvienence when filling your bike with fuel.

Bomber_Man 12-12-2005, 11:43 PM Here is a picture of it from their website. Perfect size for a small lock, tire pressure guage, flat repair kit, registration paperwork, pen and pad of paper. Thats all I keep in mine.
geoblitz 12-13-2005, 01:51 AM amazing to get so many replies for such a seemingly silly question.. You guys are cool!!
Anyway, the backpack i'd rather not use 'cause it makes wind noise and under circumstances ( sidewinds, etc) can mess with overall stability. However Bomberman's input is brilliant! Judging from the pix it doens't seem to stick out too much so i don't think it would cause any stability issues. For sure i'll try to locate this ( or similar) product in Athens. I'll resort to rka's site ( that's if they ship to Europe) in the event i can't find anything in my town Once again thanks all, great input!:thumbup
Bomber_Man 12-13-2005, 02:34 AM If they wont ship to you (which I think they will) let me know and I will pick one up and ship it to you. Best piece of luggage I have ever owned for a bike. It's small, does not shift around when riding and it can be expanded to more then double its size when fully unzipped for those days you do have to haul stuff. I have had no trouble fitting other things in there too like cleaning rags when I go to the car wash, books fit well and its almost exactly the same size as a DVD. One thing to take note of is that they will fade a bit in the sun unless you apply some sort of UV protector. I have a black one and it needs to be re-colored I have had it for about a year now.
geoblitz 12-13-2005, 04:05 AM hi there bomberman, i'llsure let you know if i need your help on this , no bother about the fading in the sun, as you suggest it can always be repainted. Greetings to sunny LV:hellobye
Goobr 12-22-2005, 02:36 PM Wow,,, imagine that. The search button really does work. :D
Thanks Bomber_man. That's what I'm lookin' for too. :thumbup
f00lish1 12-24-2005, 09:37 AM I've got a Xena Alarm Disc lock and it's worked great so far. It's as small as any other disc lock, but the great feature is that it's got a motion activated alarm. The only problem is that you can't lock it into the passenger seat strap like a regular U-lock because once it's locked to something it's activated.
