my first track day, of course i was taking it easy in the slow group, i picked the pace up a bit towards the end but was working on cornering and not all out speed (ask pete if u dont believe me) i had intended to go all out the last session, but it was cancelled due to an off earlier in the day stopping everything for an hour. Hence i didnt have the opportunity to put in a "fast lap" and get timed by someone.

will see how i go though on the 16th.

You guys are blessed to be able to get track days. The only tracks we have at home are a drag strip :sleep with kangaroo's :scared (a guy on an R6 hit one at 3/4 track 2 weeks ago), a kart track (have to ride the clutch in first cause it's so short and tight), a speedway track (haven't found 190 section nobbies) and some MX tracks (don't think the suspension travel is long enough on the 1 for that). Guess I'll just have to make some time and take a holiday sometime to PI...

:2bitchsla <--- myself again!. I read that the other day, and quietly snickered, then thought to myself "What if it were me? I have only been around a virtual PI... and turn 1 looks awful fast and would I have a gap under my knee big enough for a bus to drive under cause my balls had lodged in my throat? Would I have similar pics taken of me? Would I be so embarassed? Would I try to come up with some lame excuse like cold tyres?" Then I realised who the pic was of and promptly fell of my chair laughing :finger

:makeout It's nothing personal... yeah I've popped into the forum from time to time, and been amused by the ramblings of various people, watched and read with interest the aussie posts, but had so little time to post when at work myself (usually getting info for mods etc). Gathered some great info for mods and chosen the ones I wanted to garner the best out of the bike. Christmas and new years however has allowed time to breath, and get a bit more active with :moto: I may get to travel to Vic (where most of you seem to be from) from time to time with work, and figured from what I've read most of you guys *seem* ok... although I wouldn't be surprised after a night on the piss to wake up with smeared vaseline, sore arse and .20 in my palm if I wasn't careful...

yesterday 9th at 1500 CBD - 31.5 PI - 26.9

no ride days at PI on those dates.

only 2 places i know that rent out bikes are garners, who rent mainly harleys but have sportsbikes also
http://www.garnersmotorcycles.com.au/

or clipstone, who are a yamaha dealer, and i think the sportiest ride u can rent off them would be either an R6 or an FZ1

Well, i was knocking ouit consistent 2'02's in the 2nd and 3rd sessions, til i hit a false neutral with LP following me between honda and siberia. Being too hot for the corner i took the kitty litter option, kept it upright, brushed off the speed i was carrying about half way thru, and rode thru it back to the track. after that my times suffered a bit,and i was getting 2'02s 2'04 and 2'06 the rest of the day. put new rear tyre on for the 5th and 6th sessions. so i still have unfinished business with that track.

glad to hear you came out of that one alright... i seem to cop quite a few false neutrals when downshifting on this bike... dunno whether it is the stock rearsets or me being a bit of a spastic...

anyway, we need pics!!!

Steve_F
01-16-2006, 03:47 AM
pics will come tomorow, cant be f**kerd uploading them now. got a couple of decent ones form the photographer down thre that ill scan in at work.

it was a fairly hairy moment, thats for sure. never felt so much relief to be sitting with a foot either side of my bike, stationary and upright before.

that coupled with the move in the following session where i was trying to outbrake a guy into honda, but ended up outbraking myself and taking the escape rd. i figured id cruise it home.

can get another one in til probably mid - late april again, but hopefully get under 2 mins the next time. gotta practise up the spurs a bit first though.

Oh, and in other news, that doesnt appear to have been posted yet, Gog was having a piss with one of the guys form the corona SBK team, and apparently Biaggi is testing for them at PI tomorrow.....

Also, in other new, i nearlyt got busted this morning on the way to, work. i got home and collapsed last night, adn therefore didnt have time to road prep my bike again, i had got the rear number plate and blinkers on at the track, but the rest is in my garage. i slept in, and rather than brave the traffic in the cage i decided to dodge in as is. no mirrors, front indicators and lights taped up (removed tape from rear lights) got to about 100m from my work and saw traffic cops with someone pulled over in a bus stop, just walking back to their car, they gave me a very long look, and jumped into the car. i managed to split to the front of a set of lights and hooked into the car park at work, dodging the boom gate (easy wityh no mirrors) and parked it out of sight. kept an eye out but didnt see them pass. now i just have to get home.

also had another lucky call too. about half way to work the pillion seat blew off the bike. i hadnt touched it since the island, so somehow it managed to stay on bouncing on a trailer the whole way back to melb, and didnt survive the 22km trip to work. luckily it blew off, and bounced into the emergency lane, a quick double back thru the barriers i managed to pick i tup with only a little scuff on one corner.

01-16-2006, 05:28 PM
