i finally got some down time between work and school and rode around today, kinda weird being out on christmas eve and not being the only one out on a bike, but i wanted to write something because apparently the last post was in early october. i'm also trying to find ideas for a winter mod project. the bike is completely stock except for a really loud D&D pipe (not my choice) just looking for any mods for a moderate amount of money, nothing too crazy just something to do during the cold days. write back if anyone actually reads this, if not, i guess i'll post up again in march : )

Why not gear the bike and gut the pipes/cat? That's cheap and takes a decent amount of time.

I hear ya Chris, I took the 1 out for a ride yesterday and am going out today too, it feels weird having the bike out this time of year, but I love it, I wish the weather would stay above the high 50's for a while.

As far as mods go, have you already done a fender eliminator? Thats a good quick mod, what about some flush mount turn signals or sliders?

first, thanks for replying, i'm glad a couple people replied, it's like throwing a party and not being sure if anyone is gonna come : ) i'm not too sure about gutting the pipe cuz it's pretty damn loud already, and what counter sprocket size would you recommend hillbili? str86, i'm going for a ride in a little too, woke up about a half hour ago and saw it was still nice out, what part of colorado are you? we might be able to set something up even on short notice. my bike actually has flushmounts and a fender mod, i was looking more towards performance this time. i was thinking maybe changing out the brake lines/fluid but that is all i can come up with, any other suggestions?

chris

again, thanks for responding

Damn..wish I would have gotten to your post earlier, I would have totally been down for some ridin'. I'm actually located up in Brighton (North of DIA), though I'm always up for meetin up and ridin. There are a bunch of us over at Sportbikes.ws (in the mountain forum) that ride together. Feel free to join us anytime, and or holla and we'll go rid'n together.

If you are going to be changing out your brake lines, definately let me know. I've got an 04 R6, that I need to change the brake lines and pads on. I've got the equipment, I am just not brake savy enough to know what I am doing.

yeah, i went out for a little on sunday, it was nice because no one was out so the roads were pretty clear. yeah, i was going to stop by vickery this weekend and pick up some lines and fluid. i used to work there so hopefully the employee discount is still in effect. we should definitely meet up and work on the bikes together, if for nothing else, it gives me another reason to go ride in january. what mods have you done on your bikes so far? which do you think was worth it as far as dollar amount?

I'm always down for an excuse to ride :thumbup

As far as bikes and mods... Here's what I got so far:

2004 F4i - Full M4 Exhaust and Power commander (dyno'd at 99hp). This is the wifes bike, so any mods will be up to her. Though she does want to paint it Red, she's getting tired of the black and yellow and the lack of matching gear.

2004 R6 - Full M4 Exhaust and Power Commander (dyno's at 103hp), and a Scotts Stabilizer. I have new Galfer Pads and lines sitting in the garage and then really so I want to put a better air filter on it and some v-stacks (I'm just not looking forward to the extra $200 to retune).

2005 R1 - Completely Stock...I am not sure what all I will do to this bike. I would like to get a full exhaust, v-stacks and power commander, but I am not looking forward to putting out $1000+ for an exhaust. Plus my knowledge of getting around the EXUP is very limited. My guess is that I'll probably upgrade the pads and lines and call it good unless I can find a heckuva deal on an exhaust.

ToDo List: The R6 and F4 are definately down for regearing, fender eliminator, flushy turn signals, etc...just some cosmetic stuff.

Now if I can just have someone donate a crap load of money to the bike find for me...lol

as far as my bike goes the only mods i have are:
a self-made fender eliminator, a dremel and one hour later and i lost my mudflap on the rear, a taillight integration mod, flush mounts in the front, and that's about it, the rest non-performance stuff is carbon fiber levers and a battery tender hook-up. what's your weekend after new year's looking like? if it's nice we should either ride/do brake pads/flush.lines. i guess one should come before the other, depending on how must faith you have in your mechanical skills.:D

My weekend after new years is open. If the weather is nice, there is a group of us over at www.sportbikes.ws that will probably go riding...you can join if we do. No worries on my mechanical skills, I am definately mechanically inclined. I actually do a lot of my own engine performance mods on my truck, I just do not know anything about brakes.

I'll pm you my info
