In Nov 2004 during the election of all things my 2004 R1 was stolen out of my underground parking garage. So when my new bike came (05 gixxer) I planned on spending money on security items rather than slip ons and other stuff. I choose Bike Brace off the simple yet effect design. The owner Jay told me he has a 100% sucess rate so far. So I thought for a couple hundred bucks why not, looks beefy, smart design, and other owners gave me alot of positive feedback. Jay himself actually came and installed mine, took him a few minutes. And he even went as far as showing me how to put the bike in and out of the brace. He showed me a lil trick when it comes to putting the lock in as well. For the money this is the best security device for your home. It comes with everything, the bolts, lock and keys, and the axle guards are optional and come in various sizes to fit your bike. If you choose not to use the axle guards the bike uses the kickstand for support. If you use the axle guards, they support the bike. He provides you with thick foam so your swingarm doens't get scratched up. I found the trick is buy cheap swingarm spools to use to make contact with the guards instead of the swingarm and the foam as a back up. When looking at the pics you may think, why not just undo the bolts that hold on the axle guards and then remove the rear wheel? This is where the smart design comes into play a lil bit. The guards are actually hooked in at the bottom so you have to push them in towards the middle before removing them. Which cant really be done when the bike is in the brace. The hardest part is getting the bike in the brace, especially the gixxer with its odd shaped exhaust which hangs down lower than a conventional pipe. If you get it to close to one side it will lean and for me it was an uneasy feeling. So you have to take it out and put it back in. The first day it probably took me 10 tries to get it right. But its never fallen over even if its leaning a lil bit. My parking stall has a slight incline because its near the floor drain so when the bike is in the brace I leave it in gear so there is no chance it will roll forward and slip out of the brace. For extra care I even went as far as getting a door stop to wedge under the tire. When shes in the brace shes rock solid. I've had the brace since may 2005 now and I haven't had any worries at all. Best peace of mind. www.bikebrace.com tell him PUREVIL sent ya. http://www.northernanimation.com/photogallery/j/gixxer/gixxer16.jpg http://www.northernanimation.com/photogallery/j/gixxer/gixxer15.jpg http://www.northernanimation.com/photogallery/j/gixxer/gixxer13.jpg http://www.northernanimation.com/photogallery/j/gixxer/gixxer14.jpg
