I was at Home Depot the other day and was going to pick up some spray for my windscreen, however after talking to the paint people there they suggested going with something else rather than what they sold there.
For those of you who have painted yours, what did you use to spray them? What type of prep work did you need to do?
Thanks for the info.

i don't remember who it was, but i took the advise from someone else in this forum. mine came out looking pretty good, though i still plan to buy a dark smoked windscreen anyway. spraying your windscreen is a good and cheap alternative, but in my opinion, still doesn't look as good as a tinted screen.
i just used a can of satin black paint that i bought from Lowes or Wal-Mart. i cleaned the screen with some standard window cleaner and a soft towel, then masked it with masking tape. the way i did it, took about 4 - 5 coats, but that is because i sprayed it very lightly to keep it from running. make sure the previous coat is good and dry before you apply the next.
hope this helps.......

Donīt you guys ever look through your windscreen? Ya thinkin of painting the windshield on yer cars, too?
Seriously, try special "lexan" paint. Itīs meant to go on radio controlled carīs bodies, so itīs well suited to the R1 windscreen, too. Your local hobby shop should have it. Pactra is the best, although I donīt know if itīs available in the US of A.

For the flat black look, use good BBQ paint, its high heat too so sitting in the sun won't cause problems. Most ppl use this on their "dots" on their rear window's when tinting, and i did also. Takes several extremely light coats, but looks perfect when done, i am very happy with the job i did on my car, and i may just try it out on the bike i hope to get.
This site should have all the details:

Lotsa good info on chrome, fur and underseat pipes too.

I just used some plastic model flat black spray paint. Take the winscreen off and paint the INSIDE of the windscreen. This was done on my previously owned 98 ZX-9R and I have every intention of doing it to my 01 R1 this spring. And personally, I prefer the blacked out look to the tinted look. Never had any visibility problems on the 9R, even when laying low on the tank. This post here has a pic of my old 9R with the windscreen painted...

This is a spare clear windscreen I had laying around so I put the sticker on the inside and painted over it.
