Solidus 03-12-2006, 03:19 AM Someone posted up about a week ago about the Cardo Scala Rider. It's a bluetooth headset for motorcycle helmets. Looked cool so I bought one on ebay for 79.00 ( they do rip you a new one for shipping @16.00 )
Sooooo, I've been using the thing this week for Bike Week in my helmet and I've gotta say :thumbup .
I've used it while doing speeds frowned upon by federal , state and local governments and at 100+ mph I've had to actually take the pain because the volume was too loud in the earpiece.
Once I got the volume sorted to a level I could tolerate, I could hear the person on the other line as clear as if I were talking to them from a landline in a closet.
Every time a caller is told that I'm actually riding at some ungodly speed they've actually been surprised because the sound quality from my end was uninterupted by wind or engine noise.
Install to the helmet was a breeze even for a mechanical genius like myself:sneaky and the microphone included two foam pieces ( one for open face and one for full face )
Although it could be annoying for a hard ride day. It's just the thing for the commuter or someone who has a phone surgically implanted to their ear.
I forgot who posted it originally but man am I glad I read your post. That thing is the cat's ass.:fact

there is a product review section ......:crash
Redrocket996 03-12-2006, 03:36 AM When I'm riding I'm riding, I can see that this thing would be useful sometimes and could save me a lot of time on occasions where I have to pull over and take my helmet off every time I need to make or receive a call but I also see that this could get me into a whole world of trouble. Right now when I ride no one can interupt me unless I make a real effort and I want them to. I can just imagine just as I clutch up a wheelie and the phone goes or knee down on a fast left hander and the phone rings:crash
I'll pass on that but thanks for the review:thumbup

hooligan_r1 03-12-2006, 04:29 AM For some reason , it's quite satisfying to hear of high-speed antics by a LEO. :thumbup

Ride the World 03-22-2006, 07:05 PM Please bear with me for being such a dumba$$, but how does it work? Do I need a special cell phone? What does bluetooth do?
I need something to be able to communicate with my wife on rides as well, shes still learning to ride and I would like to be able to let her know my observations.( we have a ton of free minutes so maybe this could work?) Or are the chatterboxes the way to go?
Thanks in advance for any help, I have zero knowledge in this type of area.

Thanks in advance for any help, I have zero knowledge in this type of area. I think for you... a chatter box is the way to go since this is for a cell phone and unless you plan on keeping a call between the two of you for the entire ride the chatterbox is better since it works like a radio.
