This is for a friend of a friend, so I don't know much. I'm acting on behalf of a guy with no internet access.

Now that the disclaimer is out of the way, when i dropped my dirtbike motor off for a freshening up last night, my buddy had a lightly used '04 or '05 (I think it was an '05) with relatively low miles. Now the bad news. A medium speed lowside ended up in an R1-cartwheel.

The obvious damage is all the body work. Triple tree is broken. It looks like the right fork stanchion is bent. The wheels look good (no scuffs, tires still have air, and there are none of the stress cracks in the paint). The swingarm didn't look to have any problems either. The motor looked good. The cases were scuffed (ground is a better term) around the ignition pickup, but there were no leaks.

The owner still owes on it and didn't have insurance. Therefore, the frame has a completely clean title. The frame itself did not appear to have any cracks or bends, nor did it have any signs of stress. The left frame spar does have some scratches in the finish from the fairings or sticks or something. They're not road rash. It's fairly light. Oh yeah--the mounting point for a frame slider up at the top of the engine was bent. I don't know if the place in the frame where it mounts was bent or not.

So, I didn't look the bike over too well, but that's what I saw in passing. The guy that has the bike now is going to break it and was going to put it all on Ebay. Just trying to let you guys have dibs on it.

I don't know the history, or anything else about the owner or the circumstances.

I'm working as a volunteer middle man, so reply to this thread with any serious offers/questions and I'll try and track down the answers.

What kind of shape are the tires in? And what kind?

rearsets and pass pegs???

Don't remember about the front, bht the rear is pretty worn in the middle. It's definately squared off from street riding. I'd say 50% at best on the rear.

How much does he want for the whole bike?

are the air runners that go from the cowl to the airbox any good, if so howm much?

First off, let me apologize for the delay in getting back to everybody. Busy, family, dirtbikes, another excuse, another reason, blah, blah, blah.

Here's the general update. My buddy is going to start breaking down the bike tonight. He's going to talk to the owner about pricing, and will take pictures of all the pieces broken down.

I'm going to go first come first serve on the order of PM's and responses to the thread. Don't give up, it's just going to take a little time.

I'll reply to each response on the thread, and also reply to PM's. The reply might be "I don't know yet", but be assured I'll get the answer out ASAP.

One last thing to note. I'm simply a mediary here. I have no monetary interest in the project, nor do I even know the owner. I saw the bike when I dropped my dirtbike motor off to have a new bottom end put in, and the R1 was sitting there.

Over the next few days, I should be able to provide some answers.

Will do as soon as possible. However, the bike will most likely be parted as the owner owes more than the bike will probably get selling it as-is.

The bike will probably be parted, with the motor sold. I know of a messed up clutch cover, with some grinding on the cases, but no oil leaks.

I'm not sure about the FI, radiators, or wiring harness. Those might be sold separately.

I'm pretty sure the fairing stay is toast. I'll verify.

Um, just incase you guys didn't notice he says the owner still owes on the title. Which means that the bike is not clear. It may be clean, but it certainly can't be clear until the lien holder signs off on the title.
