On Jamie James web site he has used a Samonna Systems XUP Servo Replacement kit. Were can we get one? Has any one put one on? It must just be a plug in thing that would be nice.

But I would just leave the servo in place. It weighs very little and it is hard to see if you take the chrom cover off.

Dave I have sam's servo sub on my bike and am very happy with it.

You could just leave the servo on the bike, it will not hurt anything, but if you want the full weight loss possible, and want your bike to be a bit "tricker" then it is the only way to go. Besides what's the point of lugging around extra weight that does nothing for the bike? Keep in mind also that the maker of Sam's servo sub is non other than the very SAM FARRIS on this fourm. You will be doing business with a motorcycle lover and an R1 owner.

He is also making his 02 R1 tail light conversion ready for production. Maybe he will be nice and post a pic or vid clip of it. It looks killer.

JAYSTENSEC4CYL,

I thought about guying Sam's device. But I looked at the 1.5 lbs servo and the $100 it would cost to buy the Servo Sub. I couldn't justify it....

I've got Sam's gizmo on mine, and if you've got a 98-01, it marks carb work easier, and less skin tends to get removed from your knuckles.

It was not hard for me to justify spending $100 on my $10,000 toy, and even easier after I spent $1,000 on a full exhaust system. Everyone is different. Personally I just had to have Sam's servo sub. I could never see my bike as compleate without one.

If you look at the cost/performance ratio, it all falls inline….

Marketing research shows the most popular modification owners make to their sportbike has to do with the exhaust. This is why there are more slip-ons and full systems on the market than you can ‘shake a stick at’. Averaging the total cost (i.e. dyno-time, jet-kit, purchase price), HP gain, and weight loss for a full-system exhaust, you will come up with numbers pretty close to $1000 spent, gain 10 HP, lose 10 pounds of weight.

In other words, for every $100 spent, you gain 1 HP and lose 1 pound of weight.

Independent dynometer testing has shown approximately a 1 HP gain with Sam’s Servo Sub at around 10K rpm. Also Sam’s Servo Sub weighs 26 grams (less than 1 oz.) in comparison to 532 grams (19 oz.) for the servomotor and cables. Sam’s Servo Sub retails for $99.95.

So, Sam’s Servo falls right in to the area of $100 spent for 1 HP gain and 1 pound of weight lost.
