roman_van_alten 05-16-2006, 04:09 AM Just a question, what's the nearest airport to the gap?
I cant say in school North Carolina was extensively covered :crash
I thought I "Jacksonville" was in North Carolina, that's a possibility on the list of Airports to where I can get from here (A shit load of transfers though but that only makes the flight cheaper), however then i thought... there's gotta be more Jacksonville's around. I think there's one in Florida aswell isn't there...
Sooo people in North Carolina, what's an International airport near the gap?
Im wanting to come to next year's convention :crash
In the worst of the cases I could fly into a different airport somewhere else and make my way by train/bus or whatever. Or possibly rent a car (if that's possible at my age, over here under 25 or 27 sometimes you have no chance).
Anyway, just seeing if anyone has any info (it being I'm at work and the choice is, see what flights I could get etc etc or do work :lol )

Crankshaft 05-16-2006, 04:42 AM Roman,
The closest international airport may be Nashville, TN (177 miles). I live in Knoxville, TN a mere 50 miles from the Gap. I do most of my flying out of Nashville due to the cost savings over the smaller regional airport closer to home. The smaller airport is McGhee Tyson and may require another connection but is only 35 miles from the Gap. Also check Atlanta International airport in Georgia (250 miles).
Why not make it THIS year?

This year have no chance to, my days off have been denied (high season) over here, and money wise its a bit tight aswell.
I cant afford to tell them to :finger and still go, need the money at the moment.

Atlanta obviously is possible, Nashville is a possibility aswell. Cheers for the heads up.

Southern118 05-16-2006, 07:51 PM iif you fly into nashville or memphis you can hitch a ride with me next year. i go though both. but i do go for teh entire week is the only down fall
Kevap 05-16-2006, 08:09 PM Knoxville (McGhee Tyson Airport) is the closest "big" city airport on your list :yesnod
Actually its in Alcoa Tennessee, just south of Knoxville. We drive right past it on the way from Michigan. You would only be 50 miles away from Fontana Village. :fact
roman_van_alten 05-17-2006, 02:54 AM Cheers lads, I bookmarked the thread so I'll have it handy.
Southern, going for the entire week might not be a downfall.
It's going to take me about 20 hours of travelling to get there so a week seems fine :lol

Your going about it in the right way by getting it all planned out for next year. Yeah, you will miss out this year, but come next June your going to be ready with the time off you need, cash, a bike to rent or borrow and all the major and minor details worked out. If you fly into Orlando or Fort Myers you can hitch a ride with me if you make a week stay at Fontana. :thumbup

Cheers for the offer man :thumbup
When the time is there that people start planning the next convention I've gotta go see where the US consulate is around here, gotta get approval to go first :lol
Shouldn't be a problem I don't think, I haven't done anything wrong :crash
There's a bunch of transfers along the way to the US and I'm sure 20 hours of travel won't be enough but I just HAVE to go next year :lol
