after riding my friends gixxer 600 i noticed that the throttle on my 2001 R1 had quite a bit of play in it, maybe a quarter of an inch. i adjusted it where the cable heads down to the carbs behind the visor/ under the speedo. there is a littler rubber protector i pulled back and i tightened the slop up as much as i could without backing the little screw "thingy" out. it helped a little but it still has a lot of play. the manual said "take it to the dealer"- screw them guys i like to do things myself if i can (bought bike used too). it doesn't bother me too much but if it's easy to fix i would like to do so! any help?:cryin
There is another adjuster on the carbs but I'm surprised you need to use it. You must really be twisting that thing. :n0t :)

do you think i need to play with the single adjustment a little more? i don't think i want to mess with the one on the carbs-sounds difficult:eek:

I've had the same problem on my 99. I just keep adjusting it at the throttle like twice a year. I don't seem to notice how much play there is until I ride another bike then get back on mine.
oh well I guess the only solution is to park it and never ride it.
ya right!

crashfallon: it's really not hard at all. The adjustment thingy is placed on top of the carbs...
really not hard.
Check the manuals (download the ones I posted).
