hey ya'll....
just wanted to thank all of you for posting hints on wheelies here...i've been riding first gear wheelies for a while...i can ride them all the way to redline all the time, but i could NEVER power up my second gear wheelies...
I've been practicing and practicing....and tonite...FINALLY...second gear power wheelies!!!

For some reason, i couldn't get them up...but after reading these threads over and over and over again...it really is in the timing. Snap the throttle on right after the forks compress....also...for those of you that are trying to wheelie in second...the front doesn't come up nearly as fast as in first...it is much much more controlled...so you have to work the throttle a little more.

after the 3rd try...i rode out a second gear wheelie probably more than a half mile down the road....the only reason it came down was because i ran out of road....thanks ya'll.....this feels AWESOME....

if any of you is still having trouble hitting the second gear power wheelies...let me know...i'll be more than happy to help you out..:thumbup

Hey ghostrider1................CONGRATS!!
If you wheelie in second and third using the clutch, it comes up really smooth compared to bouncing the front end. Not to mention it looks effortless when you're being watched. Keep up the good work!!............................db :rock

really??

i've tried clutching it up in second...i've been practicing that too, and to tell you the truth it scares the shit outta me...

the front jerks real hard and when i feather the clutch with my finger, it jerks so much that i feel like i might let go of my clutch hand when it catches....

also...sometimes when i am clutching it up, the back tire spins and does a little burn out, and that scares the crap outta me too...

bouncing it up doesn't ever jerk me up, in fact, my first and second gear wheelies come up so smooth that on the video we made...you can't even hear a break in acceleration...

let me know if you have any suggestions for clutching it up smoother....

Use your index finger to pull on the clutch lever and not all four. If your back tire spins, then you have used to much throttle. Clutching it will bring it up quicker but that equals more control. (this can be done in first gear as well, not recommended for people with little seat time) After time you will get used to it. I guess it's a matter of preference. Have Fun!!
