Which loading ramp?

Which loading ramp is the most suited to load my bike into a truck – F150 (33.5” box height from the ground)? Loading will be dome by one person so I guess I need the wide kind that allows to ride the bike up the ramp. I hear good things about USA Ramp, Black Widow and Big Boy. Also does anybody know if there any shops in LA/SFV that carry them? Thanks

Oh, there is an easy ramp calculator in the middle of this web page. You'll see how long you need the ramp to be per bike wheelbase/height and tailgate height. http://www.discountramps.com/black-widow-motorcycle-ramp.htm

I've got the Black Widows and a Dodge 1500 and they work great. I load and unload myself no problem. Riding up is easiest, once you figure out how fast to go. Just make sure you have your straps ready at the top because your probably still going to need to hold the bike. You can go pretty fast, and it's easier to jam the brakes than get stuck trying to clutch it half way up. And make sure you strap the ramps to the truck. I've had the ramp slide out when not strapped. Hope this helped. Any questions, pm me.

Black widow works great. Easy to ride on and back off with one person.

I was looking at the black widow and my only concern was how big it was after you folded it up. Maybe it's just the pictures on the web, but it looks like it might be in the way of the straps holding down the bike. At least in the pictures I saw, they had the folded ramp on its' side leaning against the truck bed wall. It looks like a great ramp just concerned what to do with it after the bike is loaded? What is your techniques? Looking at the add again noticed they say you need to bolt the ramps together if the bike weighs more than 750lbs. That would make it easier to store(not bolted togther). Do you guys keep them bolted together?

When its unbolted its a lot smaller and a little wider and should be no prob with straps. If I buy that brand, at most I'll tie strap it together real quick when loading/unloading

I have never bolted it together and as three seperate units it stores pretty easily in the bed with the bike. The only time you would want it bolted together is when your backing down it. The first few times this is scary. But Ive never had a problem. That being said, I always strap all three ramps to the bumper, so they don't pull away form the truck. It would take ten seconds to put a strap around all three so they don't separate, easier than bolting and unbolting.

I am very happy with the ramps. Theyre not cheap, but if you've got a pickup you'll end up using them for alot of things besides your bike. With a hand truck you can load just about anything yourself. My favorite part is doing 75 -85mph all the way to VIR. Passing all the guys who paid the same amount for some little trailer with 10 inch wheels that weaves all over above 65mph.

Just realized I didn't really answer your question. I think the three ramps (making one wide ramp) are worth it. If you plan on loading and unloading yourself, being able to put your feet down while backing down is nice. Wtih the three ramps this is a simple process. Plus, as I was saying above when you use them for other things, quads, mowers, fridge etc. the extra ramp is great. They hold up great to. I've had mine for over two years and they look newish.
