Ok i have been told by my parents that i cannot keep the bike in the basement with gas in it cuz they r scared the fumes will leak and the house will explode. I was originally just guna take it out every weekend and drive it a little, but now i must prep it.

what do i do to the tank so it wont varnish, and what do i do the the carbs so they wont varnish or get gummed up ect. I know to pull the spark plugs and then put a tiny dab of oil in each cylinder, but thats about it...Im unsure about the fuel stuff.

Oh also dont sugest puttin it in the garage and go drive it, cuz im not storing it out there where its crazy dirty and not heated.

Buy a bottle of Stabil

I cannot have gas inside the tank, lines or carburator, they dont want any fumes able to get into the air which could potentially blow up the house...i told them they were crazy, but they said i was very welcome to store it outside, or drain all fuel from it and store it inside.

Fill the tank with gas, add Stabil & turn the fuel cock off (look under the bike, in front of the rear shock). Run the bike until the fuel lines are dry & the bike quits. It will take a few minutes.

Another thing you want to do is move the bike forward or backwards every few weeks. If you don't you could form flat spots on your tires. Especially if you leave it on bare concrete.

Take the battery out & put it on a smart charger. It only turns on when it senses that the charge has drained. Again, don't put it on concrete or it will literally suck the charge out of the battery (put a few boards down & put the battery on them instead).

I live in Minnesota & I store my baby in my basement & have never had a problem. But then again, I don't park her next to my furnace either. Keep a respectable distance & you will be fine.

just empty the gas from carbs get a tuperware container and put them in, remove and drail the tank put like a 1/2 quart of oil in it and swish it around this will stop rust...also put a clean rag where the carbs were don't go crazy, this will be plenty....at the start of next season clean the tank with some gas and get back to business...

hope this helps....

you can leave the carbs on put some fuel stabil in the tank and run it through the motr and shut the gas off to drain the carbs out... run it out of gas and drain the float bowls..
you can then drain the tank and then put a tiny bit of oil and swish it around every now and agian....

Thanx for your help...My spring ride may be a little smokey from that oil residue (even after cleaning i bet there will still be residual traces that will burn out)
