I have a high probability of being stationed in Germany. My question is what are the winters like? How much snow do you get in the winter? How cold does it get? Also herd rumors of all year round riding? Does any body have any experience with this??

So did you make it here to Germany? Let me know. You can ride 10 months of the year here. Gets a little cold for some, just have to have good gear and good tires.

Not due to arrive until May June time frame. Hurry up and get here so you can get to the races and enjoy the riding season! All of these races are within riding distance and there are usually groups that go. Riding is good here in Germany. Do you know where you'll be stationed? Hopefully in the Western part, but there is good riding everywhere in Germany. This year we haven't got any snow yet. I live int the Kaiserslautern area. Over in the eastern part of the country they had some snow, but not a whole lot. April 2007 27th - 29th World Superbike Championship rd 5, Assen, Netherlands. Germany is great.. been here 5 1/2 years. The winter this year was extremely mild. I live in Hessen which is located in central Germany. I am in a valley so we usually get some snow during the winter (not this year) but not much. Like Brian said, with the right gear you can ride 10 months out of the year. Track riding from late March through late September.. Do you know what unit you'd be going to or the area?

Man, you are going to love it; I was in Heidelberg for a year. The Germans really know how to ride. They have some really great shops for gear as well, such as Polo. You need to go to the Hockenheimring (race track in the south-western region); they do track days just about every week in the summertime it seems, and their's always a race to go to. Get ready to have blast on the backroads, and keep your eyes open for a round sign with a black ring and three grey diagonal stripes through it... these indicate "end of restrictions" on speed, and they show up on some back roads as well as the autobahn. If you get the chance, you should try to get some riding over in Andorra; it's a small mountain country sandwiched between France and Spain. That and Salzburg Austria has some amazing mountain riding. I can't tell you how envious I am!
