haunter 11-13-2006, 12:30 PM so some assclown decided it would be funny to push my bike over sunday morning(read late sat night). they ****ed up a side plastic, broke a peg, dented a mirror which also cracked the windscreen.
this pushes me to drop the hundred or so bones required to purchase an alarm with that handy 110 db siren when you touch my bike w/o me around, I may not then catch the person, but atleast some minor hearing damage will occur and I will know immediately.
anyone have one?
this is the one I looked at seriously so far....

I have the Scorpio i500 and love it. It pages you if the alarm goes off.:rock
Rookiekiller 11-15-2006, 04:18 PM no alarm, but i do have lojack
tdah1 11-15-2006, 05:15 PM i have an alarm that i have yet to install. it also has a pager which will tell you which sensor went off: ie, ignition, tipover, etc. it's made by Steelmate and i got it from this company, but on ebay for a little less money: http://www.asianwolf.com/item.jhtml?UCIDs=1068694|1279699&PRID=1454561
also has a remote start, but i don't know that i'll hook up that feature.
Spinly 11-15-2006, 05:55 PM ive got to say go with the scorpio alarm also. mines paid for itself twice!!!!
yep, I'd say go with the Scorpio too.
I've just installed mine (after someone stole my steering damper) and it works really well.
It has a perimeter sensor, which is handy if you don't want anyone even near your bike when you're not around.
The manual says the remote pager-type system works up to 800m away (unimpeded line-of-sight i'm assuming), but the maximum I got was 300m away sitting at my desk in the office whilst the bike was parked in the parking lot.
Definitely worth the dollars in my opinion.
f00lish1 11-15-2006, 10:47 PM You could also look into the Xena disc lock. It's got a 110 db alarm, motion/shock sensor, but no led or pager feature... then again, it is a disc lock which means you can't roll the bike away with it on, not like the gorilla alarm you're looking at.
tdah1 11-16-2006, 01:34 AM a disk lock may help prevent a real amateur, but anyone who really wants to steal a bike shows up with 2 or 3 guys and a van. lift it up, throw it in, and they're done.
