Redline Stands Review

So after a long search for bike stands, and many calls to people about the quality of their stands and why I should buy from them, I decided to buy Redline Stands. I got both the front fork stands (with the pins that go inside the bottom of the forks) and the rear spool stand. Ian was a major factor as to why I decided on these, as I called him three times before buying them and he answered my questions with an un-biased opinion. I ordered the stands on friday and got them within 5 business days. Upon getting them, I decided to open the box right away and inspect. I'm a very picky person when it comes to my bike (which is why it's taken me so long to modify anything because I can't decide :)), so my expectations were that I would find something I didn't like...but no, they were GREAT. The build quality is fantastic and other than the color and the shape of the upper portion, they are exactly like my friends pitbull stands. The biggest difference is that he paid over 2x's what I did for his stands. I went out in the garage and put the spools from redline in my swingarm and lifted up the rear, then went around and did the front.....that was when I became even more impressed...there is ZERO, no play in my bike at all...it's more solid than if it was on the ground. Even my gf, who knows nothing about bikes, said that it was really "sturdy". I highly recommend these to anyone, not only for the build quality and price, but also because Ian was really helpful and seems to be a stand up guy, which is hard to come by in today's world. Here are some pics of the purchase: http://www.r1-forum.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=269514&stc=1&d=1165619859 http://www.r1-forum.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=269515&stc=1&d=1165619859 http://www.r1-forum.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=269516&stc=1&d=1165619859 http://www.r1-forum.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=269517&stc=1&d=1165619859 http://www.r1-forum.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=269518&stc=1&d=1165619859 http://www.r1-forum.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=269519&stc=1&d=1165619859 http://www.r1-forum.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=269521&stc=1&d=1165619859

I have Redline Stands and for those of you that have the swivel casters, you better make Darn sure that you don't have any debris on your garage floor when you push your bike around or else you'll be sorry. Take it from someone who knows. The front of that stand will snap up so fast and hit your front fender, you won't even know what happened. You also better make sure that your stand is exactly positioned properly when you attempt to lift the rear or else you'll be digging into the swing arm. I would have given you my stickers for free as though they look good, I don't advertise for anyone especially if they aren't supporting me. I have spent 10's of thousands of dollars in motocross and superbike parts and very few companies give anything away for free unless they've made a mistake and are trying to save face. The bad part about stands that don't lift by the tripples are that you can't get the tubes out for service.

Falk781 makes a good point. I send out lengthy instructions with all swivel stands and they outline very carefully to make sure your floor is debris free when rolling your bike across the shop but still not every does so. We also tell customers in the instructions to never pull the bike toward you, always push it and put one foot on the handle of the stand from the end which you are pushing. I've been using a swivel stand for years and thanks to carefully following these guidelines I've yet to have any troubles with them. I try to make it painfully obvious in my instruction sheet that the rules of using a swivel stand must not be broken but still, some folks do. Falk, if you have any questions at all about how to use your stands safely please ring me at 901-351-4764 and I'll do my best to make sure you understand these "guidelines." Thanks Ian

On the Redline rear stands I've found out by using a black rubber vacuum cap it will keep the metal points from scratching your swing arm when raising and lowering the bike. You can get them at Advance Auto. Just find the size that slips over the metal tabs on the stand.

The link to the stands is: www.redlinestands.com I got the front "pin" style stands, the rear spool stand and the spools shipped for just under $200. And Ian was great. Look at the commercial stands if you're going with an R1 and you're a decent sized guy. If you're smaller, you may benefit from the Industrial style because of the handle it has to help lift the bike. I'm 6'2" and 187lbs. and I had no problem lifting my R1 with my gf sitting on it. Ian couldn't give you the link...so I did.

The swivel stands are very helpful if, as Ian says, they are used as directed. I can't stress the importance of this as it can make for a very bad day.

I got my set as a gift from my riding partner a couple years ago. I like that they came bare metal. I know of a local powder coat shop and dropped them off, pointed to a blue in his shop and said that color is close to my bike. It didn't need to match perfectly IMO. He told me he would be using that color in the next week so not to worry about any extra cost with color set up. He charged me $50. I've have had some cheap stands in the past. These Redline stands are great, i love'm. As far as some guy's who have scratched their swingarm, sorry to hear that. I have never scratched my swingarm using these stands. Like i said, i don't know the guy who makes these from the man on the moon, but i would recomend these to anyone:thumbup . I'll give you some random pic's using them.

I bought just a rear two days ago. Thought I was buying it to have the bike straight up for oil changes, chain lubing and to take the rear wheel off and swap tires. I got it home and put it on a redline stand and loved it so much, I left it up there LOL Very sturdy and Highly reccomended!!!! Thanks Ian!
