I know you guys in the US might not know what i'm talking about as you don't seem to have this pain in the butt built in immobiliser, but here goes to everyone else..

My 2004 r1 has developed a fault in that it wont start...

If you put the key in and turn to the on position the tacho gauge sweeps up to the max and back down to zero, temperature shows as hi, and the immobiliser light flashes 5 times slowly then 4 times quickly. There is no noise from the fuel pump. If you hit the starter, the starter motor turns but the engine wo'nt start.

I just removed my alarm ( a yamaha plug in ) and power commander from the bike, however everything looks ok..... an ideas....

i had this issue with my 07 R1... It was an electrical issue.. something with the wires went wrong... a good mechanic will sort it out......

I know this is old but.............

This has just happend to my R1.( 04 Model) Exactly as described in the first post. Working fine one day then the next, no go!

Checked all fuses and as many block connectors that I can get my grubby hands on, all appear fine.

I think it could be the alarm system as when arming and disarming it the idicators do not flash like they used to and im sure the fuel pump is not priming.

Before I bend over and get greased by the dealer, anyone out there have anything similar happen to their R1?

Any help would be great.:nopity:

Problem sorted.

As I suspected, water in the loom/connectors.

Hi guys I have a 2006 r1 one day it was working fine the next day it won't start. I tried to crank it up until the battery died. I checked all fuses and connectors they are fine. Does anyone know what could be the problem, I have aprox. 9259 miles on it. Thanks

I'd check the engine run/stop switch first, then I'd check the fuel level.
Start with the easy and obvious and go from there.

The problem ended up being the battery. I had to buy a new one.
