before i get blasted with "use the search button" i have and still have a question.i replaced my front sprocket with a -1 down jt sprocket, and torqued to spec, there seems to be some slop maybe 1/16" or so in between sprocket and case.i noticed aftermarket sprockets dont have the rubber on both sides.is this why there is play? thanks for any and all replies. Sounds like either the sprocket isn't the right one for the bike (it's too thin) or you have the nut on backwards (and if this was so, the nut would butt up against where the splines begin on the shaft, running out of threads before the sprocket was tensioned).
The nut is supposed to go on with the "dished-out" side toward the sprocket.

yea if sprocket is moving any.. somethings not right. could be wrong sprocket. the little dampers dont effect anything. there suppose to keep vibrations down and also help keep front sprocket noise down. no big deal aftermarket doesnt have them. but slop concerns me. i would double check it against your stock sprocket and make sure its roughly same thickness where its bolted on.

so just to clarify there should NEVER be any play in front sprocket because i have a buddy with a 02 f4i we just replaced chain setup on and there is play in front sprocket so we called vortex..(who made the sprocket in question) and they said its a race sprocket its supposed to be like that cause he went from 525 to 520....
