The oil light is a level sensor. You got enough oil in your bike? This is a known problem on the R1 and you must keep the oil level near the top to keep the light happy.

where are you located at? american bikes, lights are on all the time. I don't think the 2 are related unless you have a short in your wiring. Gargy 01-26-2007, 01:02 PM Pray you don't have a short... there is nothing I detest more than hunting out shorts in general.
Given it is a short, I suggest taking it to a pro if you've never done it. Sometimes I'll take it to a pro anyway b ecause I just hate messing with short circuits that much.
But if you like to do things yourself, look for blue/red wires around the instrument cluster and follow them around. They are the only wires I see in the diagram that go between the headlights and the instrument cluster. mickr1 01-26-2007, 03:07 PM If the oil light comes on all the time then prob adding a bit more oil will do the trick as the light is linked to an oil level sensor not a pressure sensor and these are finiky things..if not check all the wiring from the clocks to the main connector block under the left faring infil....this connector is well known to corrode.Clean it and put some dielectric grease on it .Good luck | |
