Troubled start

when i start the bike up......on the gauges it reads Hi and that is when it has trouble starting...what it does is it acts like the battery is weak...I bought a new battery and it still does it...I was wondering if it was a diagnostic code or what.....anything will help

Their was someone else on the forum who was having a very similar problem. . .it was an issue with the ECU. . .the dealership was unable to fix it. . .I think he ended up with a new bike from Yamaha after a factory tech came and couldn't figure it out. . .I will search fro the thread and post the link up when I find it.

I took it to a mechanic friend of mine and he said that the stator was gone and that is why it was reading Hi on the gauges. We unhooked the stator and it ran fine. Started up with no problems and the battery even held charge when we shut it off.
