Phoenix999 03-05-2007, 12:46 AM I bought one of the oversize self-tapping plugs from an auto store, but it was a mess because of the metal filings. I dumped about 8 extra quarts of oil through it just to help flush all the filings out of the drain pan. batmansr1 03-05-2007, 11:04 PM hey phoenix! how much did the re-tapping plug cost? did u have to buy a larger plug as well? Phoenix999 03-06-2007, 03:35 PM I think they are about $6-$8 at NAPA or most auto stores.. ask them for about oversize oil drain plugs. The plugs are listed by the size they are meant to replace.. you don't have to guess. baja74vw 05-08-2009, 01:06 AM I usually recommend re-threading the pan with a tap in the next larger size (16mm). The oversized plug will work, but I find it is a sloppy fix. | |
