I bought one of the oversize self-tapping plugs from an auto store, but it was a mess because of the metal filings. I dumped about 8 extra quarts of oil through it just to help flush all the filings out of the drain pan.

I think they are about $6-$8 at NAPA or most auto stores.. ask them for about oversize oil drain plugs. The plugs are listed by the size they are meant to replace.. you don't have to guess.

I usually recommend re-threading the pan with a tap in the next larger size (16mm). The oversized plug will work, but I find it is a sloppy fix.
