Can't believe he can lay that bike over like that!!!!!!! Kickass!!!!!!!! Gawarrior 01-15-2007, 07:46 PM Can't believe he can lay that bike over like that!!!!!!! Kickass!!!!!!!!
me either scott. I sat in my truck and watched him before I left for about 10 minutes and watched him do things I didn't think were possible and I was watching it thinking that. He just pushes the bike to the limit, he would drop it here and there with some low sides but more often than not he would make it without dropping it. He probably would wash the front on some slick spots on the track. Thing is he was always sliding around, stuff that would make the normal guy have to clean out their leathers! and he would just correct it and keep going...I could see the front wheel washing and he would just correct and keep going without missing a beat! and that is just one of many things.
It was awesome!! Captain Squid 01-16-2007, 09:24 AM That's crazy!!! I would love to watch that in person Gawarrior 01-16-2007, 09:29 AM That's crazy!!! I would love to watch that in person

I'll throw Larry a bone, there was a dude out there on a DRZ who was haulin ass, I passed him once but made a little mistake a few laps later and he got me back, I have new respect for the ol' DRZ:bow
Can't believe he can lay that bike over like that!!!!!!! Kickass!!!!!!!!
I looked back and saw him coming, so I didn't want to be to much of a roadblock and ran the next corner a little wide so he could sneak inside. Next thing, there he is on the outside, cranked over so low his head is under my footpeg. Dang he can ride pavement or dirt, he hauls ass......he is also highly competitive and just keeps raising the ante for anyone who tries to challenge him...... The Dr is more of a street bike, the YZ wouldnt be as good at night or for longer rides, its faster no doubt , but the Dr is setup better for the road........:fact:yesnod Gawarrior 01-17-2007, 09:04 AM The Dr is more of a street bike, the YZ wouldnt be as good at night or for longer rides, its faster no doubt , but the Dr is setup better for the road........:fact:yesnod
yeah you are right about that. I wouldn't want to make a long ride on my YZ...it may be ok but I just wouldn't feel comfortable doing a long ride on it. Not made for that. And night rides...guess it depends on how many bicycle lights I can put on the handlebars:lol ducatiwv 01-17-2007, 09:12 AM yeah you are right about that. Listen, convert the yz450 to supermoto. YOu don't have to put a lot into it...wheels and brakes is about all. Getting it street legal is easy. And you will LOVE IT!!!
Hey, something I figured out about the yz...if you disconnect the TPS it really smoothes it out! mine was sputtering really bad at any constant rpm and if read about disconnecting the TPS...man it made a world of difference! The "hit" is not a hard now, but it is in a good way...it makes it easier to ride. Also, no backfiring at all and smooth as butter all the way to full throttle and even if you hold it there. Also I swear it has more HP now or something because the same gearing I had, it used to top out at the track on the fast straights, but now I don't even come close:rock And it just takes abotu a minute to disconnect. I have heard it is the case on all of the YZ models. ducatiwv 01-17-2007, 09:26 AM Listen, convert the yz450 to supermoto. YOu don't have to put a lot into it...wheels and brakes is about all. I ll try it, sounds good to me....I really want to convert one of them, but also want to keep it in the dirt...I m really having trouble getting the dr jetted right , i m going to call the jet company this week and ask them whats going on, it backfires alot, and its driving me crazy...LOL.....If you see anyone with sm wheels that will work on a 03 450 , let me know...:fact Gawarrior 01-17-2007, 09:39 AM I ll try it, sounds good to me....I really want to convert one of them, but also want to keep it in the dirt...I m really having trouble getting the dr jetted right , i m going to call the jet company this week and ask them whats going on, it backfires alot, and its driving me crazy...LOL.....If you see anyone with sm wheels that will work on a 03 450 , let me know...:fact
larry, what would you want to keep it in the dirt if you have the CRF 450? Not that you couldn't, but why?
All you have to do to put it back in dirt is change the wheels. THe larger brake disc requires a relocation bracket so that would just pop off for the dirt as well. but that is it...of to dirt you go. I don't think I will ever run my yz450 in the dirt though. That is what I have they yz250 for. One of these days I will get another 450 for the dirt though.
I will be on the lookout. I know you can get a good set for about 1300-1400 bucks for a set.
That stinks abou the drz...i wonder if it has a TPS as well? I though I had jetting problems until I found out about the TPS. when I disconnected it it cleaned all that up.... ducatiwv 01-17-2007, 09:48 AM larry, what would you want to keep it in the dirt if you have the CRF 450? Sounds good, do you really need the extra large rotors or is that necessary? Gawarrior 01-17-2007, 09:52 AM Sounds good, do you really need teh extra large rotors or is that necessary?
Is it necessary...no. you can run with stock rotors and calipers honestly. I did the first trackday with the stockers and it did ok. They got hot on the track though and started fading and they don't stop nearly as good as the oversized ones...but for just street riding they may be fine. You could always leave it stock until you got enough cash to upgrade. They would be fine until then. Southern118 01-17-2007, 10:03 AM because i can buy a drz and get it taged very easy. i could convert a yz yes but i dont ride dirt number one and number two it woudl be soemthing to get to ride to work and back. You can tag a yz pretty easy too if you know what to do. and the yz you could ride dirt and street but you don't have to. Plus it will wheelie all the way to work:rock LOL Southern118 01-17-2007, 10:33 AM You can tag a yz pretty easy too if you know what to do. and the yz you could ride dirt and street but you don't have to. im not so sure how easy it would be to tag and inspect it in mississippi. and the drz is cheaper man and is set up. it would just be fun to have to play on and take up to the gap from time to time Gawarrior 01-17-2007, 11:00 AM yeah the DRZ is a good bit cheaper, but the yz is a ton better real supermoto. but for just scooting around the drz is a great bike.
as for tagging it, most people think that getting a tag for an offroad bike is impossible...truth is it is pretty easy in most states. California may be the exception. plimmer 01-17-2007, 08:19 PM yeah the DRZ is a good bit cheaper, but the yz is a ton better real supermoto. but for just scooting around the drz is a great bike.
