Shift light pattern ?

I did a search before I posted this, but couldn't find what I'm looking for. I would like to know how to change the shift light pattern, because the light comes on way early telling me when to shift. Is this possible? I don't have a manual for the bike. It's an 04 R1. Thanks.

Hold the select/reset buttons in while you turn the switch on...Once a few seconds have past you can then change the brightness of the gauges by hitting select. You can also change the shift light time, brightness and how it flashes.
