I setup my 2004 R1 to the recommendation that Sport Rider has and still feel that the sag is too much for me; 3-4 inch travel. Besides spending a lot of money on Penske or Ohlins components, is there an alternative that I can do for better feel? I changed my rebound perch to the 9th click which should be the stiffest setting, correct?
One other note, the bike has 11k miles on it and no maintenance has been done to the suspension.
Thanks.
you need stiffer springs. cranking preload has no effect on spring rate, it only adjusts the ride height. like many others will say its better just to get a new rear shog but the front you can get revalved and resprung. it is worth it.

Actually a good time to have your forks and shock rebuilt with that much mileage. How much do you weigh? Also run a search on suspension and there are a lot of previous threads on the subject.
