Micron Headers

New to this forum. Be checking it out but my first post so HI! I have a Micron High mount slip on on my 03 R1. It the one in my avatar. I dont want to get a new exhaust but I want to get a better set of header pipes to improve performance. Does anyone know a set that will match up? If there are multiple which seems best? I tried contacting Micron and they have yet to get back to me. (its been about a month) Thanks in advance!

The Micron's should match up. . .I'm surprised that they havent' gotten back to you yet. . .generally speaking they have always responded promptly to my inquiries. . .all you would need to make almost any set of headers work is to know the pipe diameter of your Micron mid-pipe (I believe for the Micron header oultet it should be 2.5". . .stock exhaust piping is 2 3/8") and the outlet diameter of the header collector. . . you can get transitions from one pipe diameter to another and the most that would need to be done is some cutting to make sure you maintain the same lengths when using the transitions. . . I know that the Micron mid-pipe for the full system is 2.5" but it could be different for the stock system to mount up to the stock 2 3/8" piping. . .if that's the case you would either need a transition to match up to whatever brand of header you use or just get the Micron Serpent headers and cut the 2 3/8" adapter off of the mid-pipe you have and get some 2.5" piping expanded for slip joints to match up to the 2.5" outlet of the Serpent headers (the Serpent headers may have a smaller diameter outle that expands to 2.5" I can't remember exactly but transitions are cheap. . .get whatever header you want and then take some measurements and order a transition. . .www.burnsstainless.com sells transitions for multiple diameters of exhaust tubing in different grades of stainless as well. . .should be easy!!!).

Call indysuperbikes.com, they are very helpful. I think Micron has the serpent headers that will fit with your highmount.

Welcome... 1st advice to a Noob, run a search. :chair :lol New headers that will match aftermarket slipons are sold by devil and laser for around 500 bucks. You can get good used full systems for around that much. I think dakman might be still trying to sell his akrapovic ss header and midpipe for around 500 bucks so is fastaznr1 with his akra full system. Send them a pm. :thumbup

Thanks for the help on the devil and laser leads. I did do a search, trust me im not new to forums but I couldnt find anything. I do not want to replace the micron can that Im using cuz I think it looks the best on there. I will be running down your other leads kangaroo.
