Just installed a 16T on the front, and that was a sprocket for the 04-06 R1. SLVR6 01-31-2007, 07:31 AM Thanks for clearing that up. Wheat 01-31-2007, 07:36 AM Yes, the sprockets are the same. I prefer the Yamaha one because it has the rubber collar and best of all they lowered the price to $21. stap71 02-11-2007, 08:08 PM this is probably a stupid question that I could look up. but anyways, how many teeth are on the stock 07 R1 countershaft sprocket? Would it be worth it to go to a 16 tooth to help with the weak low end on my 07? Or can it have other side effects that I wouldnt like? Wheat 02-11-2007, 08:18 PM Thanks. It helps all around, the side effects will be the Speedo will be off more than with the 17tooth... stap71 02-16-2007, 04:12 PM just installed the 16 tooth on my 07. to tell ya the truth it really doesnt seem very different. anyone else? hand07 02-26-2007, 08:19 AM where did you get the 16 t from and how much was it hand07 02-28-2007, 11:18 AM also what tools do i need to change out the sprockets SLVR6 02-28-2007, 06:10 PM where did you get the 16 t from and how much was it

You said you paid $21 for it but never said where you got it  02YZF-R1 03-04-2007, 11:22 PM how easy is it to change the front sprocket? I don't have an impact wrench. SLVR6 03-05-2007, 07:33 AM You said you paid $21 for it but never said where you got it
Like I said its for an 03 R1. I got it from YAMAHA.:chair: 02YZF-R1 03-05-2007, 02:32 PM hey, any clearance issues with the swingarm and swingarm chain guide going to a 16 front on an 07 R1? Vigi375 03-05-2007, 03:50 PM There is no clearance issues or anything like that. If you dont have an impact then a breaker bar will work, but you better have someone holding your bike or sitting on it. All in all, it feels a bit more lively in first and second gear to me. So, its not a bad mod to do. pecanflyboy 08-05-2007, 10:57 PM Let's nutshell the front sprocket change:
1. Change the stock 17 tooth for a 16 tooth
2. Helps low and midrange torque?
3. Sacrifices a little top end? (Like I'd ever see it)
4. Speedometer is not as accurate (You are going 7% slower than the speedometer?)
5. Does the Speedo variance affect the engine mapping and performace?
6. Speedhealer can cause more problems than good?
Thanks,
