Are the sprockets the same on the 07 as the 06? I can't find any aftermarket ones listed for the 07.:banned:

Yes, the sprockets are the same. Just installed a 16T on the front, and that was a sprocket for the 04-06 R1.

I bought a 16 tooth for a 2003 from Yamaha and it fit perfectly. I prefer the Yamaha one because it has the rubber collar and best of all they lowered the price to $21.

this is probably a stupid question that I could look up. but anyways, how many teeth are on the stock 07 R1 countershaft sprocket?

Thanks. Would it be worth it to go to a 16 tooth to help with the weak low end on my 07? Or can it have other side effects that I wouldnt like?

how easy is it to change the front sprocket? I don't have an impact wrench.

hey, any clearance issues with the swingarm and swingarm chain guide going to a 16 front on an 07 R1?

There is no clearance issues or anything like that. If you dont have an impact then a breaker bar will work, but you better have someone holding your bike or sitting on it. All in all, it feels a bit more lively in first and second gear to me. So, its not a bad mod to do.

Let's nutshell the front sprocket change: 1. Change the stock 17 tooth for a 16 tooth 2. Helps low and midrange torque? 3. Sacrifices a little top end? (Like I'd ever see it) 4. Speedometer is not as accurate (You are going 7% slower than the speedometer?) 5. Does the Speedo variance affect the engine mapping and performace? 6. Speedhealer can cause more problems than good? Thanks, J
