They are just caps to cover up the bolts.
If you want a clean look go grab them nothing wrong with that

Yeah just wondering if anyone has them... I will end up picking them up, just wanted to know if they are a good tight fit. I'd hate to be driving down the road and they fall out.

I'll try them out.

That was the only one that I could find... i searched pretty hard too. But for me I would rather do a NO stress order online. especially with that company, they rock.

Yeah you get all 4 caps...

You know that I think about it.. there was another company but the plugs were polished and didn't match the frame. I like the flat frame black they have.

I have been looking around for quite awhile and this is the best deal yet. I just ordered them and this guy is great to deal with. Most of the ones you'll find are aluminum and $40 a piece. This is a set of 4, which will cover both sides for $30. Tough to pay that for plastic plugs, but like Tex said these match the frame nicely....

Made mine at an injection molding pant I was at 3yrs. ago, both made out of delrin, they're lower profile than the ones pictured. The swingarm pivot bolt cover is actually flush with the frame, and the upper plug is slightly raised above the frame with a small lip. Best of all they were free & made by me :rock

I got a set when they first appeared on ebay. Fit good and tight, and I haven't had any complaints. Several people have asked me about them when they see my bike and asked if it was a Yamaha part as the match is about perfect. Got them in no time flat. Good deal overall.

I am considering making some in order to cut costs for members on here. I haven't ordered a set to see how they are made. how are these held in and are you able to get them out easily? Also, does anyone know if the plugs are interchangeable between years?

sounds good phloyd, the plan right now is to have them laser cut from ABS and will fit flush with the frame. I'll try and get things going by next week and let you know how they work out

03-08-2007, 07:23 AM
Nice, just a few questions/statements on the subject.
See if you can get textured black ABS like the frame paint, and if you cut them your self and your gonna make them flush will I be able to get them out without ruining them, are you gonna put a slight taper to them. Let me know how it turns out.
Oh yea and BTW how much do you think they'll set us back. I know of at least 2 other friends who would want these little bad boys.....I have an 03 R1, another friend has an 04 R1 and yet another friend has an 06 R1, so I can check to see if all the years are the same.
Thanks for your efforts....

slyfox03
03-08-2007, 07:45 AM
I can get the textured ABS so it should match fairly well. I have been thinking about the taper and i think they'll fall out if they are. I will try and come up with a way to get them out as well. As for price, I will have to see what materials and production cost will run and i will get back with you.

silicone is your friend . . . thats how mine are affixed, been on the bike over 3.5yrs., never losened or come off. If I need to remove them all I need is a razor blade & a dental pick :thumbup

I actually a have a company out of CA that I sent the molds to for the sprocket and the tank plastics. Over the last 4 weeks they have been developing them from my molds and are giving me a free set. Its kind of a business deal we have going on right now so info is disclosed for the moment. was gonna buy these from mmcoy's but i couldnt place an order 4 some reason so i went down to true value & found some blk plastic caps that to my amazement fit perfect in the 1inch holes on the frame. i got a clutch slider on the big hole so i just need 2 make a cover for the hole on the opposite side. the guy told me to use silicone to keep it in, we'll c how that comes out, BTW those 3 caps i bought were less than $3

Nice, there is no significance in having them unplugged right?
i was thinking at first the holes must be there for a reason,
but i guess not.

Also on the 07's theres only 1 plug each side right,
because the Lower bolt is sticking out a bit, its not flush!!
only a few months left till i send you that package man!!! :rock
