I've just acquired a new R1 06. It is my first Yamaha motorcycle. Ok, Yamaha engine is very noisy by itself, but my R1 makes a different noise that I'm not sure if it's normal. It's like lack of valve regulation or fuel detonation, I don't know. And we can notice it over 3000 rpms and the engine in load (bike must be in movement). Who already went through this kind of problem? Do I need to provide any kind of valve regulation or fuel injection regulation? PS: the gasoline I use is about 91 octanes and there are other similar R1's which uses this fuel and the engine works fine.

It's like lack of valve regulation.....
A lack of valve regulation can not make a sound....it will only result in burned valve's.

the 04=06 bikes do have a resonance between 4-5500 rpms.

I just started hearing that noise recently from what sounds like the valve train. I broke down and took it in to the dealer and they said "it's normal". Now if my valves get messed up its covered under warranty, so who cares. I have the YES....

Where are you I think your saying that your running your bike on 91 ron petrol that needs 95 ron!!!
Your bike will always sound rough, you will get pre ignition and your valves will burn out. You need an octane booster adadtive.
Please feel free to correct me if I am talking rubish!
