I recently had my stator rewound as it has burnt out at about 24000klms, and now almost a month later my bike has developed a strange bearing noise which sounds like its coming from near the stator housing. The noise is quite loud when the bike is cold but gets quieter as it warms and is only noticable when revving it. is there a bearing near the stator that could have burnt out when the stator did??
Thanks.

Are you sure the flywheel hasn't come loose after reassembly?
Seems the most likely cause.

Take the left hand engine cover off (below cylinder block) and have a look at flywheel and check bolt in the centre.
I have never removed mine but I think its held on by about four alan bolts.

The only bearing near the stator is the end crank bearing mate (a shell type bearing). I've just had my 03 (same as yours) to pieces. I mean pieces, I now know those motors inside out. Who replaced your stator? Did you do it yourself I mean?
Start as William said, taking the flywheel cover off, left side front engine cover, to check the main flywheel bolt. This has to be very tight and you must hold the flywheel with a suitable holder to tighten it. 65Nm. The stator itself sits behind that and is held on by three torx bolts that must be loctite'd in. To remove the flywheel, I'd recommend the official tool.
Here's a pic to show it better, 5 is the flywheel, 8 is the stator:
