I parked my bike for the winter and decided to fire it up once in a blue so it doesn’t just sit in the garage the whole winter. Well the battery died so I went out got a float charger and took the battery out and left it charging for a day. well when I put the battery back in the bike still wont turn over but now it tries to turn and than all you get is clicking sound round around red + wire on the battery. Its a fast paced clicking sound. I don’t know much about the electrical stuff but I am starting to worry it might be my starter. or battery is no good anymore. I worry cause my bike (and I posted this before) used to die on me while ridding. I would just push it hard and it would just shut down on me. I was told it might be a bad connection to the battery or a kick stand censor. Either way I wont to start the bike I tried push starting it but the tires are so cold that it has no grip and when dropping the clutch the tires just slide. :chair:
Can some one tell me why its clicking and if it is my starter or battery. Also is it safe to jump start from the car?
BTW its 02 with about 8k on it

If the starter solenoid clicks or buzzes it is usually either a poor battery connection or a dead battery.
The battery does not supply enough power to keep the solenoid activated at the same time as providing current to the starter motor, resulting in clicking or buzzing from the solenoid.
If its also faiilng during a ride (requiring recharging) I would also suspect your charging circuit, but the culprit could be just the battery.
If you are going to change anything I would start with the battery first and see how you go.

Dude my r6 does the same thing every spring. If you put a new battery in the bike it will prolly fire right up.Just make sure the cables are tight. Of course I use the cheapo auto zone batteries so I cant complain..

The best thing to do if you are going to park your bike for a long period of time or any vehicle is to dis-connect the battery cables :thumbup

Also you can jump start it from a car, just don't start the car.. Leave the car off..
