What up? I was wondering if there is a clipon that is avalible that will allow me to open my arms more? I'm a wide guy and I find that my wrist are at an angle when i'm gripping. I would like to find an aftermarket clipon that is adjustable or one that has a different degree from stock. Do these exist? I'm curious to how much more comfortable I would be if my wrist were in a natural postion. I'm gonna put this in the racers forum also. WES

Adjustment parallel to the length of the fork tube, meaning pointing the clipons downward or perpendicular, meaning around the diameter making the grip narrower or wider? You can adjust the stock ones along the diameter by removing the lock screw on the upper triple clamp. No. 6 on the pic.

I don't know about that. I don't feel safe leaving that screw out. I found a set by vortex. Are they any good? WES

Check out these bad boys. Out off all the ones I found these look the strongest and at a reasonable price of $180. Now my new question is that are the fork tubes on my 2000 50mm? WES

WES that screw is a guide screw so that at the factory they don't waste time trying to set the correct degree for each clipon on the assembly line. The clipon has to be clamped on the fork leg. Just tight enough so that it won't move under your pulling and pushing. You want it also to give in case you do fall over so that energy can be disappated and not transferred and bend more expensive stuff.

I still will feel better if my clipon had 2 or 3 screws attaching rather than one. That one screw from the factory gets no love from me. I wonder how many racers out there use their stock rotors? They'll work just no good enough for me. Get my drift?

That #6 screw can be removed from the right clip on, but because the brake reservoir is connected to the upper triple clamp, and also the right clip on, you can't move it to adjust it. If you move the right OEM clip on from the original position, you will need to find a way to support the brake reservoir. Go with the Heli bars. I have them on my 2001 and really like them. They will actually make the bike handle better since you'll be able to get more leverage with them.

i know this is kinda old, but if you're still looking for clip-ons, i have that Vortex set-up and i love it. way more comfortable and seems to handle/turn better.
