putting a 99 r6 swingarm on a 99 r1 for better racetrack handling

back in 99 when I bought my r1 the racers were running an r7 a hybrid r1 frame r6 swingarm for better handling with impresive results,however bike was banned from racing because it wasn't a production motorcycle .I would like to try this conversion .I was going to buy a swingarm off ebay but I'm not sure if I need all the r6 linkage and shock or if I canuse the r1 stuff ,I'd hate to have to change the shock I have an ohlins .has anyone tried this or have any info on it .it would be greatly appriciated thanks:machinegu
