putting r6 coils on a 99 r1

was wondering if anyone has done this I remember seeing an interview on tv where a race team mentioned doing this conversion .Ive talked about it with some racers one mentioned trying it but fried the cdi ,i would think it would be possible using 99 r6 coils but may need a resitsor in there? anybody have any info on this any feedback would be appriciated ,not sure if there would be any performance gains ,but I sure could use the extra room for my attack ram air system it's pretty tight right now and my throttle cables aren't at the optimal angle they hang up a little bit.

i had the same problem on my ramair and unbolted the coils off the plastic thing and just tucked the coils right above the spark plugs, in the limited space left there.

thanks for the reply blur ,I guess that,s an option ,I don't really like the idea of the coils just sitting there loosely ,my ram air kit came with an aluminum bracket for the coils that mounts to that small brace in between the frame spars ,I drilled a hole throughthe brace and ran my cables through that it helped significantely but still isn't quite perfect .I'm still looking for a better solution
