Hey Guys,
For you 02-03 Riders out there....
What Front and Rear Sprocket combos do you recommend (# of Teeth)?
And just for giggles...what brands do you also recommend?
I'm mainly looking for Canyon and Track riding...rarely use the freeway (Avoid it if I can.)
I want to mainly bring the power band down...it really likes to breath above 7K, but by then I'm usually barrelling towards a hillside....I'd rather have the power a little sooner...don't need the top speed runs...

Ok based on these two posts and a couple search results seems like...
The (-1 Front) is a given.
Is the additional (+2 Rear) worth it?
What kind of a difference are we talking about here? I'm not a wheelie guy...so I'm not looking to lift the front, just move my power range down the tach a bit.

I'm runnning a -1 front and stock rear (43) w/ a 520 chain and I like it.
Doesn't rev out too early and I still get that quick acceleration....!
-1 F +2 rear is just a bit too twitchy/rev happy.... I had it for a bit when initially bought the bike (previous owner had it on....)
Recommendations:
Chain:
RK gold; best bang for buck, i've logged over 15k on one chain with meticulous maintainance!
Sprockets:
AFAM: The french did it right! Made of steel so they last a while! only draw back is lack of color (they come plain grey) and their not much to look at !

Thanks Guys...really appreciate the feedback.
Anyone got any thoughts on AFAM, Sprocket Specialists, Vortex..Does the lighter aluminum (PTFE or Alloys) stuff make a difference ( I know the steel will last longer)? And should I bother converting to 520? Anyone got any chain horror stories...or do they hold up pretty well even with 520s.

I am looking to get a new chain and sprckets. What will the bike gain/lose with a 15/45 setup or a 16/45 setup????

I second the Rk gold chain but Renthal sprockets FTW. -1, +2 works great for me and the 520 conversion is worth it. Afam is a good sprocket but steel is heavy. They make a couple alloys as well.

I am running a 15/45 DID 520 setup.. Bike gets it and goes.. But I'm sucking through chains and sprockets kinda quick..
Another drawback is your speedo and trip meter will be off.. For example when my speedo shows 88 I'm actually only going 80. That and I'm showing more miles on the bike then there really is. You can get a speedo healer and it will help this..
I think I'm going to go back to the stock sprockets and 530 chain soon.. I spend to much time on the freeway and need to maximize the life of my parts.

Anyone using an aluminum REAR sprocket with 520? How is it holding up?

My setup is 15/46. -1 in front/ +3 in the rear. My mechanic told me not to go with 15/45 cause you govern your bike like that. See that many guys have that setup but I love mine the way it is.
