hi there folks, im new to this site and found it while tryin to find some info on some R1 TBs that i have purchased. i bought these as they are a cheap TB conversion for 4 pot car enignes over here in britain. these and some megasquirt managment and your onto 180bhp from 150bhp, all for about 500 GBP, bargain in my book :)
anyway, i could be doin with some info on them if anyone can help me that would be great.
first off there is a bar that runs along the length of the bodies, and it pushes a small valve on each body, and is attaqched to some sort of actuator which has 2 pipes coming from it - looks like water pipes to me but if anyone could tell me what this is for that would be great
second, can anyone tell me the injector flow rate and what pressure the fuel pressure is as standard?
third and final thing is the black sliders. what purpose do these serve? they seem like a big restricion in air flow to me but i assume they serve some purpose. maybe to make for smoother pickup or soemthing. anyway, are these needed or can they be removed/disabled?
thanks it for now :) :thumbup
cheers

You might try the search feature. Though I doubt anybody has posted information with your particular application in mind, they may have answered some of our questions in the course of a more motorcycle related throttle body questions.
Search on "Throttle Body Sync" that ought to pop up a few to start with. You may also want to try and search on the 02 R1 Service Manual, (Its a .PDF) that may give you the details you are looking for...good luck.

those look like set of stock TB. the bar that goes to all of them with actuator is the fast idle(choke for better term) assebly. black sliders are the slides.. like set of carbs. it was piston suction type FI system new for 02. its suppose to give better smoother throttle response. i cant remember fuel pressure, but if you get manual i think its @ 42 psi or so.

good info cheers. i take it the cold start actuator pipes are water then? thats handy
thats 2 folk thats said to me standard fuel pressure is 42psi. i can rig a gauge to check for sure. i can find injector flow rate at that or any other pressure so i will do a static test of my own and see for myself. i want 180bhp so if they need changed, they need changed. maybe i can play with fuel pressure though.
so, these slides, i have taken one out and if im right i can see no averse affects of removing them completely and just sealing the cap with an O ring. so i think i'll give that a go when the time comes to get the engine running.

dont know how it will work without slides. prolly run really bad.. but your application is little different than motorcycle. i would leave them in for now and see how it performs.

I don't exactly understand their purpose, but in the Bike Performance world, there is a tuner (Graves Motorsports) that does a lot of race work on Yamahas. Here are some Slide Stops that are designed to keep these slides in the fully open position. Maybe it will help you understand their use better...here is the link

nice site that. i will contact them and see if they can give me any info on the injectors. ive had an after thought aswell, that i will need to know the impedance of the injectors as i will need this info to set the megasquirt up properly
thanks again
