Hi, eveyone for starters I'm new to this site and would greatly appreciate some help on this problem. I have a 99 R1 that I am having a tach problems with or should I say NO TACH MOVEMENT what so ever. I just replaced the entire factory wiring harness with a new factory yamaha harness, main harness, headlight harness... I have a full exhaust system on it, bike is lowered, completely polished frame , swing arm, rims, custom painted color, just can't seem to figure out what or where to fix or find this problem... Can anyone please shed some light on this problem or where to locate this bug, sensor or something. By the way the rest of the cluster seems to be working great, lights, clock, odometer, mph, blinker light, Nuetral light, etc... Thanks, Jr.

Welcome to the Forum. Normally I would suspect a corroded connector on the loom but you have replaced it all. The Tacho gets its signal from the ECU so there is no sensor. I would try swapping out the cluster, if you can borrow one.

+1 william is correct the tacho is controlled by the ignition control unit, so try to borrow another and swap them to see if this cures your prob...good luck buddy:drunk:
