Just heard the horrible news about Doug's crash in Florida. Cycle news states he had emergency surgery that was "succesfull", and that he has some feeling back in his hips, but not his legs yet. Besides his sensation, is he able to move and use his legs? I have been a huge fan of Doug's for many years , and am praying for him that he is not paralyzed, and will make a full recovery. Was hoping you'd have some more news for us as the news from the media has been lacking.

From RacerX... March 07, 2007 http://www.racerxill.com/images/blank.gif Doug Henry Update http://www.racerxill.com/images/blank.gifWith word out of the hospital in Florida on Doug Henry's condition, Scott USA spoke with the Yamaha factory Supermoto rider who crashed in a practice session on Sunday night in New Smyrna, Florida. Doug is in great spirits, and he reports gaining more and more feeling back below his waist. The injury occurred right where he suffered he broke his back in his notorious crash from Budds Creek in 1995, but the spinal cord is in good condition. In other words, it was not severed, just traumatized. We will have more as soon as we hear something official from Henry's team.

Jside - thanks, I did read that at RacerX. Also read reports on Cyclenews, Supermotoracer, Thumpertalk, and Supermotojunkie. All those reports really don't say a lot, and specifically if he still has movement in his legs. My concern is that if his spinal chord was traumatized enough to lose feeling inhis legs, that the nerves that move the muscles might also be injured. I'm just very concerned about a great racer and person, and wanted to find out more. I was assuming Chuck would have some inside info as I'm sure he would have spoken to Doug personally.
