Battery question

This is a stupid question but I'm stuck. I took the battery out to recharge after the winter months. I went and I put it back in and I can't get the screws in to secure the wires down. Are there threads anywhere that might have popped out when I took the battery out? This is blowing my mind even though its so simple. Thanks for any help and forgive me for the stupidity.

Yes, there are two small rectangular plates that have a threaded hole thru them for the bolts. They must have fallen out of the battery posts. Maybe you can beg some from a local bike shop. I think they are a standard size and if anywhere has old bike batteries it should be them.

I can actually see two rectangular plastic pieces back in the battery. could they have slid back into the battery? I don't want to go and try and pull them out if they aren't supposed to be out.

I don't think so, they wouldn't be plastic anyway. The originals more than likely fell out when you removed the battery and carried it around.
