r1 fz1 engine swap

does anyone know if a r1 motor will go in a fz1.. and what it takes to make it work.

I believe they are the same engine... but the Fz1 is just detuned.. based on that I would think it would be a direct boltup. But I could be wrong, I never really looked into it.. this is just something ive heard in casual conversation. But it makes sense because its cheaper for the company to use the same engine in both bikes.

Nope. Won't work unless you extensively modify the FZ1 frame. The R1 and FZ1 engines have different heads plus the R1 uses downdraft carbs vs sidedraft for the FZ1.
