ok people, i aint no newby to bikes but would not mind a little advice, I ride a 01R1 and weigh oh, some 100kgs fully loaded in my gear, so bout 220ibs for you US people, here goes.

I have messed with the suspension in an effort to get the thing to feel half way decent, i know that they are quite undersprung (Front and back) so I have pretty much made her:
front:
damp: 3 out from harddest
comp: 4 out from hard
reb: 3 out from hardest

rear:
2or 3 out on all and risen the compression so the sag is spot on 7mm, back seems fine now, she dont squat none under power and feels good in the turns,
the front still feels shite, i have no faith in her holding what so ever, i have had other big bores before but have never had them feel so unstable, does raising the forks thru the clamp make any difference to stability????

2. I have a yoshi rs3, but stock jet settings, she seems to run fine, is it worth getting the bitch jetted up or not?

3. Anyone had an 00 or 01 and moved up to the new model, is it that much better, cos if the overwhelming responce is yes then i might upgrade and then ask another whole load of dumbas questions trying to get that one sorted.,

just a note, safe riding people, enjoy life to the full, one twist of the wrist at a time!, a full twist !

I have an 2000 R1 and weigh about 175 with street clothes, never weighed with gear on but i have done alot of fiddling with settings and found these work best for my riding style

front forks slid up 5mm ( makes the bike turn better mid corner especially)

front forks 5 lines showing (preload)
front compression 4 turns in
front rebound 3 turns out

rear preload 5 or 6 (out of 9)
rear compression 3-5 clicks in depending on road smoothness
rear rebound 3 clicks out to 1 click out depending on smoothness of road

for 2 up passenger riding i leave the front alone and set the rear preload to 7 and compression to zero turns in and rebound 1 turn out . if the 2001 suspension is different than 2000 than of course this is useless to u but if no give it a try and see how u like it. sliding the forks up 5mm made a hell of a differance in how well the bike turns , before the bike felt like the rear cornered better than the front.

blue flame,er, blue flash, check my thread called mystical suspension assumptions in the mechanical section, search it by views or by name, all the points you asked on suspension are covered there. 7mm sag? what shock do you have? seems a bit out of the ballpark to me
as for the jetting, does"your bitch" have a full pipe or a slip on? do a search on jetting, you will find your answer.
