Also check the connections, sand them with some sand paper. yamahog 03-27-2007, 11:39 AM Look up rectifier / regulator. I am in the process of dealing with a bad rectifier regulator right now on an 00 ....

I replaced the voltage regulator, held it's charge over the winter, then went to drive it a few weeks ago, lost it's charge. brought it into the shop, said the stator went bad, and it only has 6500 miles on it. Stator and voltage regulator were big issues for these bikes. yamahog 03-28-2007, 12:03 PM Well if you already replaced the R/R and the Battery is new than you are left with the stator. I am told that if you run a continuity test to each of the white wire in the recitifier, you should not have continuity. If you do you have a bad phase on the stator. arkie6 04-07-2007, 08:20 AM Check the voltage across the battery terminals with the engine off and with it running. With the key off, a fully charged AGM battery like in the R1 should have >12.8 volts DC across the battery terminals. With the engine running and charging properly, the voltage across the battery terminals should be ~13.5 volts DC or higher. | |
