Hi Guys,
I currently have an 03 R1 with Yoshi Slip on exhaust, graves velocity stacks (about to be installed tomorrow) and K & N air filter. I am from Aus, I notice many of you guys out there have had positive feedback around the powercommander III. I would only class myself as an intermediate rider. Will a powercommander make much difference to performance, particularly on the road? Here in Australia, unless you are racing they are not highly recommended by dealers. Would be interested in any feedback. Thanks...

I just got my Powercommander installed about a month ago.. I only have a slip on, but I noticed the throttle is a lot more smooth and responsive now.. I'd say get it, but I'm not sure if there is already a map for the setup you'll have.. Might have to get it dyno'ed..

I have an 03 with a Yoshi RS3 slip on + a K&N filter + power commander and this is my take on the subject.
When you get the slip on you basically feel a bit more power on the high end. I also got an increase in my top speed from 259Km/h up to 263Km/h. The downside is that you loose some of the power in the lower end. AND you get less gas mileage.
When you install the power commander you feel like you got a bit more power EVERYWHERE in the power band, the throttle is crisper, you get more acceleration and better mileage.
Bottom line get one and if you need maps I have some and you can find more of them on the sites. Having a power commander willa lso allow you to install slide stoppers, a full system, the graves airbox, etc..
Good luck.

Know where I can find a map for an 03 w/ a Yosh TRS slip on and K&N air filter? There are some that are close on the PC site but not exact...

Hi there
I have a 03 R1 and was hesitant about installing a PCIII but i am so glad i did... as soon as the tuner finished he wheeled it out and said "here, tak it for a spin around the block, with a smile on his face" i rode it out the shop it could feel the better response and more pull, very noticable. the tuner had to take out 20% fuel as some stages of the tuning. I was happy i invested the money. BTW running a Akro slip-on and K&N as well.

Thanks for the map! That works better than the one I was using before. I may get a custom map down the road but for now this one is just fine. I don't have any performance issues to speak of, so a custom tuning would be gravy at this point. I've been told that the only difference between the Euro and American models is emissions. Is that correct?
