Can someone please tell me the correct position the shift rod should be in because since removing the rod and putting it back on after accessing the front sprocket cover, I'm finding it difficult to down shift.

Better yet, could someone put a picture up of a correctly adjusted shift rod for an 04 R1.

i think just adjusting it to where your toes engage it to your liking is the best

In order to change the position to your liking, you can thread it on either the front first a turn or two then thread it on the back or vice versa... when you do this it will change where the shifter peg for your toes are at, I had to mess with mine a few times to find the spot I liked
