Engine Cuts Off When Choke Is Off!

Need Help, Engine Runs Nice When On On Choke It Starts Up Nice, But When I Put The Choke Down It Cuts Off, I Can't Accelarate Either On Either One With Choke Or With Out It... Need Help! What Can Be Wrong?

are you just now starting your bike from over the winter. If so could be bad gas. If this is not the case I would make sure your pilot jets are clean and not clogged. It could be you are having to use choke to compensate for clogged pilot jets which operate upto around 5000rpm. I thought I had a problem a couple of weeks ago with rough idle and hesitation on pulling away and it was because I had left the choke 1/4 on when warm!

sounds like your pilot jet(s) may be clogged, or the screws maybe out of adjustment. you can try richening the screws up alittle bit, but it sounds like you should take the whole rack off and have them cleaned. oh, everybody types faster than me:(

this is all good info thanks.. but no am not just staring it, it was running good a week ago, i was waiting for parts soo i took the air box off and cover the carb with a rag, now i'll start but only on choke and still can't give it gas!.. i did manage to start the bike on choke and give it a lot of gas it works.. i go and put it on normal meaning choke OFF then it cuts off again.. i did started with the choke OFF once giving it a lot of gas but then right after i let off the gas it cuts off again....

how long has it been sitting? 9 times out of ten on a bike thats been sitting if it will start and run on choke but won't run off choke the pilot jets are clogged and the carbs need to be cleaned. If you brought it to me I would clean the carbs, drain the tank, change the spark plugs, change the oil and filter, check the bike over. $175 plus parts. This is very common on carburated bikes that are not properly stored before sitting without being ridden for a period of time.

175 sounds like a good deal but am in maryland, near washington dc.. it would be longs ways for me.. but thanks..am everything points to the carbs to be cleaned out..
