~R1CrazyTex~ 04-09-2007, 11:26 AM Well, I'd like to get my suspension done up before I go, and at least have a month to get used to it before I go.
At the gap I for sure not looking to pass anyone, NOR am I looking to ride outside my abilities. BUT.. I would like to hone my skills and learn a crap load of stuff, get to be a better rider with basics on riding etc.. etc..
Anyways.... Anyone think of any other things to fine tune, prep up for the bike before the gap?
I've got this so far:
1. Suspension dialed for 220lb 6ft rider
2. Custom dyno tuned (maybe depends on $$)
3. Remove side mount plate
Other than that I can't think of much. Other than things NOT pertaining to the bike but more to me, ie: will, emergency #'s, insurance, C.C's etc.. That stuff I'm good on.
ANY recommendations guys?

Tex, hit up Jennings before you head to the gap or another track. You can get the suspension set up there for $40 to $50 by a race proffesional. Plus, hone your skills a little bit too. This time of the year would not be as crowded as it was in January.
Over the past few years we did have an emergency list done up. :thumbup

Gotcha.. I don't think I'll have time to hit up jennings, I'm pretty much out of town every weekend until the big move. But I might head that way just to get them to tune it one weekend.
Where else can you get that kind of work done by someone that knows what they are doing?

new tires if you're even close to half way through the treads. You will scrub off a lot of rubber in a week. I think we average about 800 plus miles.

Good call Tony.... was going to suggest the same thing...... 80% tires at least.

Well I know manually I can change the tires while at the gap, but is there a place there that if I stop on the way in I can get them to do it?
If not then looks like i'm picking up some pilot pros in a month! I've got about 80% on the tires now.
I'll have to double check once it gets closer.
Kevap 04-10-2007, 06:02 AM but is there a place there that if I stop on the way in I can get them to do it?
Yeah, you can get them mounted at Wheelers... down US129. Just 2 miles north of Robinsville! :yesnod
Ken can do just about anything you would need...
Here's the website... www.mountainhomepage.com/wheelers (http://www.mountainhomepage.com/wheelers) :thumbup

I do not know what Ken charges to set it up, just an option if you dont get by a track.

Dude, i've been so busy with bullshit and being single lately I haven't had time. I gotta get in there and try some on before I go throwing money around on fleabay or here. I dont' wanna take the chance it doesn't fit and have to send it back.
I'll have full gear before I go for sure though. At the very least a set of pants. I've got a jacket, and can wear my work boots, but I'll start working on that this weekend actually after payday and bills!
