I installed the SR-500 today. Total time to install about 2 hours. First Impressions Documentation is lacking big time, although it is pretty basic it is a must to read through a couple of times and Take notes particularly on the layout and how you want things to installed and where. I got the factory wire kit :thumbup made things real nice and tucked the main module well up into an area that would need the entire seat and rear to be taken off. "I figure make it as tough as possible" Once all set up, plugged in the main unit and bingo all is good, system responded, chirped and ready to program. Programming the unit was pretty simple, even with the same lack of documentation it was easy to figure out. Paramiter and basic alarm functions real well out of the box, the parameter setup may take some fine tuning, but so far I like it right were it is. There is a 2 foot parem around the bike before the alarm is sounded. Touch the bike and all heck breaks loose. :thumbup I have not installed the Ignition cut off or panic hi-jack portion yet. Looking at setting this up with a failsafe just in case the module fails. As I understand it if that happens then the Bike is DOA  All in all the unit is a :thumbup :thumbup :thumbup :thumbup on install :thumbup :thumbup On Documentation :thumbup :thumbup :thumbup :thumbup Easy of Use and Functionality I just hope it is never tested Here is a link to the unit itself, I did not take Pics, Camera batter is charging and my wfe and daughter have the hand held in New York and the Cell Phone is Cheesy:shhh http://www.scorpioalarms.com/products/motorcycle/sr-i500_trs6/ The Hand Held Smaller then an old pager http://www.scorpioalarms.com/images/prod_trs5-thm.jpg The main unit abut the size of a cigerett box and half as thin http://www.scorpioalarms.com/images/tech_sensor.jpg Remote Ignition Shut off sensor http://www.scorpioalarms.com/images/prod_rid5-thm.jpg Parameter Sensor http://www.scorpioalarms.com/images/prod_sn5-thm.jpg One other Item, If you buy direct from Scorpio there is a 100% money back in 30 days

Unfortunately, all you need to do is unplug the scorpio and it will start! The ignition cut off relay is normally closed.

Personally, I'd say skip the ignition cutoff. If it malfunctions while you are running in a canyon, the bike dies and down you go... The perimeter sensor and shock sensor should be plenty.

Just what to make a comment about the SR-500, I have one which yes the documentation could of been better, but all in all, the alarm is a must have if you live around the city (Boston) like I do. The SR-500 has saved my babie many times from the stupid people who like to touch and the assholes who think they are clever and think they can get away with your girl. Not going to happen! I also would recommend lojack (http://www.lojack.com/) as an extra safe guard if you have put time and money into her. It is one of the best products out there for motorcycle security, and a good peace of mind.

The perimeter sensor and shock sensor should be plenty. :stpd: I took mine off because when hitting severe bumps the engine would sometimes cut out. The mfg. said that if you install it to cut the fuel it will lessen the severity of the problem but I just said f it and never put it back on. They are in the process of rewriting the installation directions to reflect this problem.

Good write-up and I agree with the addition of lo-jack instead of the cut-off switch.

I did not use the cut off switch, no need, if the assholes want your bike they will find away to get it. The cut off switch is only a very small part, with lojack they can find where your babie is. I never had any problems with the SR-500.

how much does Lo-Jack cost?

Well I guess in all depends on your bike shop who is certified to install LoJack, I paid 525 for the installation and services, well worth the money, if you put your time, effort and money in making your babe unique.

One Important Thing That The Instructions Dont Tell You....is Dont Get The Perimeter Sensor Wet....it Is Not Water Resistant At All!!! And Will Malfunction If It Does!! I Made That Very Mistake While Washing My Bike And Yes The Sensor Was Under My Seat....it Was Just A Hassel To Re Order One!!!! Now I Have It Wrapped In Electrical Tape And In A Zip Lock Bag,,just To Be Sure!!!
